  1. All of us at the coalface know, or should know that many go to an unfortunate and unplanned end. The treatment of these poor souls and yes horses have a soul too IMO.......is disgusting, and if I knew a slaughter man personally, one who features in this video acting cruelly, I'd like to dispense my punishment 'personally' and damn the consequences.........as a trainer and owner/breeder my missus and I do absolutely everything we can to find good long term homes for my slow and old ones, sometimes your trust is broken by a dishonest or misguided re-homer and you are compromised, but if you have a collective of like minded souls then you generally learn of the miscreants and you can correct the wrongs........it's sending us broke, literally, but it's what you do......if you love and respect them.......I don't love the ABC anymore, cos it's not my ABC anymore......but I stand with them on outing these pricks at the abattoirs.
  2. Who does he answer to Thomass?
  3. Surely they can't raise stakes until revenue increases? what business runs on this ethos? the whole thing is a sham, house of cards, call it what you like, in fact a giant ponzy scheme bests sums it up. The sooner the cartel is ended the better, but who will be brave enough to take them on? I'll donate a diamond bike to the good bastard that brings them all down!
  4. I'd call that robbing Peter to pay Paul......they do that very successfully, until Peter wises up, then the shit will hit the fan,,,,,,nah, #whospolicingthepolice
  5. Jesus Billy, I knew you were battling Parkinson's but dementia, poor old Pamela must have her hands full, no, not Pam R, the other Chch girl, Pam S.......
  6. What, and spoil the gravy train? You are right of course, their salaries are obscene to all except them, Saundry must be pissing himself, the shot putter has now gone to a council position in Wgtn has she not, so her salary should be put into building a home for destitute trainers and stablehands, they can at least have shelter at night, sit around and swap stories of the good old days, Jackson and Allen, their salaries should go toward funding an airline to service the bush towns a competitor to Air NZ, or better still, pay good money to proven, skin in the game professionals that exhibit some enthusiasm and want in an attempt to salvage what's left of this industry of ours......drain the swamp guys, it's possible, but not probable.
  7. It's called accountability, in Oz you have to be accountable, NZTR/RB ran their own race did what they liked, you now see the result. The lies and deceit were accepted, argued about on some decent racing forums and that was about it. There should have been a royal commission into the demise of NZ racing, but no, until someone decent gives a fuck you are doomed, Winston is all piss and wind, some of Messara's ideas mooted were good, some weren't, but then again he was being advised in some quarters by ex-pat Kiwi's in Oz that hadn't lived in NZ since God played fullback, some of his advisers had close connections with the well known cartel up north [allegedly] so sadly, you now see the result. It's not all beer and skittles in Oz either, plenty of corruption going on, but at least there is action on that front and it's being seen to be done also, that's transparency. NZ was once legendary, people and horses, memories some of us cherish, the crowds will be there over Xmas and some good atmosphere, but it's forlorn to think prizemoney and infrastructure will improve, it won't, the greatest Xmas present I could receive would be to see a number of suits at Petone facing a mutiny, but I'm delusional, they will continue to pick up those sick salaries and do SFA........it makes me sick.
  8. Why don't you and Aqua meet up Fred? You could lock yourselves in a small room and prod yourselves all you like, there's an idea.
  9. Out of interest, we sent our Flying Spur mare (ex Carnegie mare) to the young Frankel stallion at Brighthill, Eminent. This potential horse got a ***20/20 rating.......double cross of Sadlers Wells...which apparently is the new "must have" cross when breeding...so let's wait and see...
  10. If Jacinda gets in again Reefton I'll personally cut the trans Tasman cable and NZ can drift off Into the Pacific......promise!
  11. Seek help Aqua, you've obviously surfaced too quickly and are now suffering the bends. #delusional
  12. Ben Dover!
  13. Dazza was the greatest trainer AUS ever had, not far in front of Robbie Smerdon, his absence is destroying racing, the jiggers were to be used on lazy staff, they were too slow to give carrots, apples and pats, the criminal charges pending are nothing to worry about, a frame up, plenty of Barristers will get him off, Nicole Gobbo [google her] for one, and poor Johnny, the most loyal people on earth are jockey's everyone knows that, he will look after Dazza financially, I'd bet my last on that. The sooner the stewards and the police are held to account for the false accusations and charges the better......I can't wager until Dazza Weir is back in the training ranks and everything returns to normal!
  14. And so the ladies ride the card today, NZ can boast they lead AUS in pushing the women to the top in the racing industry while in the great brown land the ladies can still do it tough. Well done to the fairer sex today, Linda Jones would be smiling up on the Sunny Coast no doubt.

  15. You're much closer to it than I, so I'll bow to your better judgement. Once the grass roots people vote with their feet there'll be little left, how anyone in their right mind can accept a 10k stake at a TAB meeting is beyond me, and by the sounds of it those stakes wont last either. The transport costs are horrendous for those trainers that don't cart their own, the fact you have to pay for a jockey, no starters bonus/subsidy, why the hell bother, racing for the love of it......plaudits to those brave souls.
  16. Surely their lawyers would be advising them it's unconstitutional and a no win for them in court? No legislation would ever pass to 'steal' land, what buffoons they are and that's being kind......a class action would cripple them, but then their costs would be another burden on the already downtrodden and maligned stakeholders, what a sad and sorry affair this all is. Isn't it amazing what lengths people will go to to protect their obscene salaries. As a byline, if by the sheer grace of God many of the decision makers are retrenched or for whatever reason, relieved of their positions, should they knock on your door looking for employment, would you employ them....any of them? or would you send them packing?
  17. What credibility they had was shot to bits when there were no retrenchments Huey, any business that is haemorrhaging looks to cut costs, beginning with voluntary and then mandatory retrenchment. In the private sector, usually, once the auditors are done and the books don't balance, well serious questions are asked, you can be as creative as you like with accounting, but in the end if it doesn't add up, it doesn't add up, and thats the biggest worry, or should be, where the hell does the buck stop once the Grimms fairy tales are discovered...in the guise of the annual report.
  18. How does that work? They can't ''vest'' assets if the club own their assets, the gov can make statuary acquisitions, and make adequate compensation, usually at market rates, but even they are questionable, therefore a challenge to the courts is in the offing, of course there needs to be a will and that's the conundrum........pro bono needed, no doubt.
  19. The 'cartoon' races actually saved racing in NSW...to a point, The Labour state Gov handed over somewhere around 150mil to AJC/STC on condition they merger, and give up the rights to the animated horse racing......it worked, NSW never looked back, the racing minister was Kevin Greene, a legend who now holds a place on the ATC board.......Nathan Hopeless could and should have met Mr Greene and asked for advice, NSW is thriving, NZ will always be the breeding ground of champions, but quadrupeds, or All Blacks but that's 30 legs and doesn't count really.
  20. The wrong one won, nasty.
  21. A united front was needed some time back, the cartel up north have nothing to worry about, most are retiring age or worse, they lined their coffers, the ATA was a joke and still is, militant action was needed, like QLD, a call to arms, never happened, bit like the AB's last game, until Hansen gave them the rev up the train wreck was in motion, now it's too late, the deceit from HQ is unpalatable the failure to follow fiduciary duty and no transparency or governance, should bring action from the supreme power, but there is no accountability, so it's a vicious circle. The leisure dollar is now stretched, offer an attractive product, source new markets and revitalise the old, that's mandatory in order to succeed. You can even learn from fools, a bankrupt who learns from mistakes can rise from the ashes, but he/she must listen and the suits in Petone run their own race as who do they report to? In closing, I think a royal commission or at the very least a sanctioned moratorium should be held into NZR........maybe a forensic investigation into the reasoning behind the disastrous FOB platforms and the ''royalty'' streams that will bankrupt the industry over time. There needs to be a will, but the grizzling wreaks of apathy, instead of walking away, take the correct action toward those that impacted so heavily on your decision, strength in numbers, it could happen, of course it could, but there needs to be a will and the only will that is evident is a will that is read following a death and then a funeral........it's a big ship NZ racing, it carries a lot of passengers, and there aren't enough lifeboats to go around. RIP.
  22. They should give him the job of heading up RITA.....he's forgotten more about racing than the entire collective, but then he'd have to live in WGTN or AKL and after Chch who'd want that?
  23. About an hour past Orange, with a crowd Ellerslie could only dream of! Akubra's and all.
  24. Calling Eugowra trots today on Sky Channel like it's cup week at Addington, what a loss this fellow is to NZ........
