The stewards report is a bit bizarre isn't it? No explanation of the fall. Slipped, clipped heels? No veterinary explanation other than some sore teeth from the fall. Looks like they didn't even talk to Tayla before issuing the report. But they do that in an hour and can't conclude an inquiry into a race 6 weeks ago?

Aside from being 10 years too late, half arsed? I have a bit of experience writing research surveys. If a student of mine had presented that one I wouldn't have even commented. Just sent it back and asked them to present something that makes sense. I know plenty of 10yos that could do better.

Agree. You can't shift races where wet trackers are expecting to run 1.16 to a track where they will need to run 1.09 and change. Not an option as Bid says.

Looks to me like it is a token piece of justification for canning the thing. Seems a bit late now to be seeking ideas to keep jumping alive in the SI.

Due to consistent rain and a water-logged track the race meeting at Woodville tomorrow has been abandoned. The short-term forecast is for further rain. The track was inspected today by the regional track manager and the RIB in coming to this decision. NZTR will look to enhance stake-money for the final jumps day of the year at the same track on 2 October, and cater for as many jumps horses as possible.

Three races were abandoned, and the feature events only just got by. The Canterbury Jockey Club does not want this iconic racemeeting to fade into the mists of time, but it can only continue with the support of those who own, train and ride jumpers.
