  1. Which would have meant that KGG might have got more. Remember the handicapper is constrained by the ratings system as to the max and min number of points they give for maiden and ratings race wins. The critical question from the handicapping policy is " if the race was to be run again the next day, what would the weight turnaround be to equalize the chances of all horses." What do you think the handicapper has done wrong in establishing the ratings for those other 3?
  2. Ballon D'ór finished 5th, 1 1/2l from the winner and retained its revised rating of 74. KGG actually beat the other two who both lost a point. Not saying the rating system is perfect but if it were mine, I wouldn't have any complaint about the 13 points that KGG got and presumably neither did its current connections.
  3. It doesn't. It's at the handicappers discretion. As I said, seems about right to me, maybe on the generous side.
  4. It actually got 13 points for running 4th, beaten 1.5l behind horses rated 67-70. Seems about right to me, or do you think it should have got more?
  5. Yep. I'd say about 50 galloped there when I was there Saturday. I think it's the second largest training centre in the SI though I stand to be corrected on that.
  6. Yes. That's how we got the Foxton ones for trials and assembled ourselves.
  7. Rangiora is now running jumpouts but at this stage only has fixed starting gates at the 1200. They are looking for mobile gates though.
  8. If there were a set of grass trials scheduled this week with that programme down here instead of the cancelled poly ones, we wouldn't be forced to go to the races on Saturday to give one a trial. The whole programming races/trial thing is completely screwed.
  9. Yes and the original injury data showed that Awapuni and Riccarton was double that of Cambridge, though you have to be cautious about the low n. Still it backs up what you say.
  10. Yes they use some sort of geo-location system to capture phone betting etc.
  11. So, it's included in what is reported?
  12. Does oncourse turnover include oncourse betting on off course events?
  13. ... and they can't even spell check the news release ffs. Meeting News Riccarton Park - Canterbury JC Synthetic Trials Cancelled Riccarton Park - Canterbury JC Synthetic Trials have been cancelled due to insuffient entries.
  14. Also, I see nothing in the submissions or RIS about how they will manage the digital currency bookies in all this.
  15. Sorry, that should have said George Julius, not Julius Poole.
  16. Just as a matter of fact, the tote was NOT invented by NZRacing. It was invented by Julius Poole in Western Australia, actually for vote counting. It was first installed and used for racing in NZ though, at Ellerslie in 1913.
  17. Dead on. Totally agree Kit but will the Government listen to that or the spin?
  18. Never mind that Kit. Would you please answer CS's question about what you are inferring. I'm curious. Also, what chance do you think there is of the monopoly being extended to include online betting?
  19. What do you mean by that?
  20. NZTR Statement on Animal Welfare Charges New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR) acknowledges the decision today of the Racing Integrity Board’s (RIB’s) Adjudicative Committee regarding Mr John Malcolm and fully supports the decisive action taken against anyone who mistreats animals. NZTR does not tolerate any behaviour whatsoever that compromises animal welfare. At an early stage of the RIB’s investigation last year, both Mr John Malcolm and Mrs Rachel Malcolm’s licences were immediately suspended by NZTR, pending the outcome of the adjudicative process. In today’s decision related to Mr John Malcolm, the penalty determined by the Adjudicative Committee for four serious racing offences and seven breaches of welfare standards is a lifetime disqualification from any involvement in the Thoroughbred industry. NZTR Chief Executive Matt Ballesty confirmed support for the decision. “NZTR fully supports this outcome and remains committed to upholding the highest standards of care and treatment for Thoroughbred horses. We have zero tolerance towards any actions that compromise their wellbeing.” “The decision regarding Mr John Malcolm sends a clear message that animal welfare is paramount in our industry, and we fully support the outcome.” NZTR will continue to enforce strict standards to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all horses within the industry. 21. Might be at the RSA again?
  22. So are those figures you are reporting t/o or GBR?
  23. Stiff competition eh?
  24. 20 years of half the TAB's profits? Looks cheap to me. Maybe why some execs got the DCM? Throwing millions at a lost cause? Doubt that will continue for long.
