  1. In the overall pattern, weight-for-age is given higher priority than set weights, which is given higher priority than set weights and penalties, which is, in turn, given higher priority than handicap conditions. All black type races for 2YOs and 3YOs are to be run at set weights or set weights and penalties. In line with international trends, it is unlikely that further handicap races will be elevated to G1status.

  3. Don't recall ever saying anything negative about the Trentham track. It's my fave in NZ and the only one I attended on a raceday last year.
  4. Hang on Jack. There's still one out behind the gates.
  5. Why don't they do the same as the US. Give it Listed status with a (Restricted) notation then if they must give it black type status? Though as a restricted entry even, I don't think it should have that personally.
  6. You ain't gonna get much of a pool if you don't put up any prices and then declare the race abandoned!
  7. Yes. We've done this Thommo. You are right.
  8. Total bs.
  9. Yep. Over half a million in stakes provided by the industry for the club to pocket whatever revenue they did from oncourse betting and other oncourse expenditure and what revenue did the day generate for the industry? Anyone seen or got the turnover figures?
  10. They do the same with US races that run before they've had their morning coffee. Races are listed but then when you go to them it says.... M42Aqueduct ABANDONED7.26am RACE ABANDONED - NO NZ BETTING Class:3YO Distance:1609 METRE Why they put them up there in the first place I don't know and why they can't take bets on them over night with their fancy new platform is beyond me.
  11. If worse comes to worse, could Westland race at Reefton?
  12. You mean Shirley?
  13. I wouldn't say that's the case. 2019 accounts show total liabilities 760k down from over 800k in 2018.
  14. Oh no, don't do that. Thommo would then not have a venue to talk to himself out loud.
  15. Yes, I tried to get on when he posted this morning and would have been happy with 18s but there didn't seem to be any takers, even at that price.
  16. Goodo. Thommo probably thinks he got a deal getting on at nearly half price.
  17. OK. Nice work mardi. So you are putting them up after the races too now?
  18. Remind me. What year was that? I'm talking about this week. And was it before or after the races that you tossed those out?
  19. Good of you to put that up after the races Thommo. Sorry wrong horse. No gear changes. Just value BEFORE the race.
  20. Oh bugger. Another 6 value bets put up there yesterday and one rolls home at 16/1. Yet again it was BEFORE the races.
  21. I'm a bit disappointed. The Ukranian women have disappeared and now I'm getting ads for blinds and real estate. What gives?
  22. No. I'm getting the chance to meet Ukranian ladies now.
  23. Yip. Not a handicap so ratings irrelevant. 7.4Set Weight and Penalty (SWP) RacesIn SWP races weights are determined by a system of fixed penalties for winning performances. These penalties are set out in the race conditions. Conditions may vary from one SWP race to another and are advertised in the Thoroughbred Racing Monthly (TRM)magazine.
  24. The bizarre thing about that is they asked me to do that analysis. With mardi's assistance we did it pro bono. It told them exactly what their chief handicapper of the time told them in the preliminary meeting. Still they didn't believe it. Fortunately for him, the handicapper was able to move on to greener pastures shortly thereafter.
  25. I didn't know value was directly related to price, I thought it was about the relationship of price to chance? I don't remember any mention of that in the BP bible.
