  1. I think it's good that she is aiming at being useful.
  2. Russell Warwick Appointed Chairman of the NZTR Board Russell Warwick has been appointed by the NZTR Board as Chairman at today’s June Board meeting. Taking effect immediately, Warwick will replace current Chairman Cameron George following his announcement to step down at the end of the current racing season, 31 July. Russell Warwick brings a wealth of industry knowledge and administrative experience to the appointment. As the General Manager of Westbury Stud, Warwick’s ability to lead one of NZ’s elite breeding and racing programmes made him an excellent candidate for the NZTR Chair. “The industry has made excellent headway in recent times, but there is still a lot of work to do,” Warwick said. “I really enjoy being able to give back to the industry, and timing wise, I feel I can offer a constructive view as we look to inspire a new generation of stakeholders and encourage further growth within the business.” Warwick is quick to congratulate outgoing Chairman Cameron George on the improvements to racing during his tenure as Chairman. “Cameron George’s contribution to New Zealand Racing throughout his tenure is unmatched. He has driven growth and guided the industry into a period of change that has brought new life and excitement to the sport.” Under his leadership, George, who has served as Chair since 2020, has played a pivotal role in steering NZTR and the racing industry through various challenges and sizeable achievements over recent years. “My journey at NZTR started with navigating a path forward for the business through COVID-19,” George said. “Over time, we have managed to rebuild the industry into the strong position it now holds, demonstrating the resilient team environment I’ve been fortunate enough to be involved in over the last four years. “ “I’ve enjoyed all the challenges this role has presented me with and the changes that have be made. We have developed initiatives like the NZB Kiwi alongside NZB and Entain and I couldn’t be more excited to see that race come to life.” “With a proven track record in outstanding leadership, industry knowledge and relationships we have absolute confidence in Russell’s ability to continue with the momentum underway." 3. Meeting News Awapuni Trials Cancelled Due To Insufficient Nominations - 16 Total Nominations
  4. Totally unacceptable and unneccesary. Made a superb and very brave performance almost unwatchable and another nail in the coffin of jumps racing as we know it imo.
  5. H McNeill (THE COSSACK) - Spoken to regarding his whip use over the concluding stages.
  6. Encouragement?
  7. They might be better to attend to getting the whip rules sorted? Hopefully, Justine will be advocating for that and we'll hear of some progress in the next missive from Welfare.
  8. Yes, though I note the bright sparks that do the programming here, have a couple of R65 and Jumpers 2200s programmed in Canterbury in the next month, including one next week on the poly. Where they expect a jumper to emerge from when there are no races for them down here is hard to figure, let alone one quick enough to race creditably on the AWT.
  9. Given its legs were in the air, I'd say it fell, a bit more than badly blundered. Strangely there is no report on the outcome for either horse involved. No vet exam?
  10. I note this issue has just been raised in another thread. Went back and had a look at the meeting I originally referred to here and not only is the stewards' vision not there, the screen saying when it will be has disappeared, though from memory there was nothing contentious at that meeting which they might have wanted to hide. I can only think that the pigeon carrying the video from Petone to Cambridge must have died en route.
  11. And the plonkers cut it out of the video replay. Clipped heels?
  12. I think that's Freda's point.
  13. I'd say they'll be planning to add a couple more to make them accessible to as much of the horse population as possible but resources don't allow doing that in one hit. Maybe a partnership with freight companies to move horses there when they have empty spaces?
  14. Yes, the Troggs version reached #5 in the UK and #7 in the US, however the WWW version remains the best selling love ballad in the UK.
  15. Now mardigras and still posts occasionally on theraceplace.

  17. 1994 Four Weddings and a Funeral. One of my favourite karaoke songs then. The Wet Wet Wet version. However, even Wet Wet Wet got so sick of it, they withdrew it from sale when it was still selling 120,000 copies a week. A very odd choice for a TAB ad I thought, especially if trying to appeal to a contemporary audience who probably never even heard of it.
  18. Doing a good job with limited resources I think.
  19. Has it been suggested that trainers are avoiding the AWTs because of safety issues?
  20. So you are saying that an ex-racehorse (i.e a horse that raced) has raced in a pony scurry this year? Did it win?
  21. Another one for those who think it doesn't get people into the industry.
