Smaller Fields from now! Because of the Starting Gates!
curious replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
The way I read it, the first thing they are going to do is ensure reliability of the clipons so they can continue to be re-used. It seems the gates were tested and working at the start before loading and again after the false start when plugged back in. That suggests the power connection was loosened during the loading process. It seems making sure somehow that the connection is secure and protected adequately might solve the problem. -

Punters Promise, a self-imposed new minimum win limit imposed by the TAB themselves, means any customer betting on their TAB account is allowed to win a minimum of $2000 in a single fixed odds win bet on any New Zealand horse or dog race. This is locked into the Entain deal.

Not if they are competitive betting races they won't

We were definitely overdue for a new Imperatriz thread. -
Lisa Allpress gives Kim Clapperton a serve!

I've been on about this before. Don't see why they shouldn't be there the same day. And the video quality is horrendous when we do get it. -
I think the issue in Newmarket's headpost was not being able to withdraw to a card.

7.1 Open Races Open races are open to all horses except two-year-olds. The top weight will determine the spread of the weights, down to the required minimum. For any transferred horses from another race that then creates a larger rating spread after declaration of weights than 15 points, the top weighted horse of 60kg and /or 62kg will remain unchanged. The top weighted horse is required to carry 60kg for Black Type races. Non Black Type races. Horses rated 88 or lower will carry 60.0kg. A gradual weight increase of 0.5kg will apply for horses rated 89-91. Male horses rated 92 or higher and female horses rated 96 or higher 62.0kg at the time of declaration.

I wonder what that was about. It's not like Lisa. Something must have wound her up. -
And it's bs that it is different in Oz. Racing Victoria (RV) reminds trainers and permitted veterinarians of their obligations under the provisions of AR 254 which prohibits the use of injections of any type to a thoroughbred racehorse within one clear day of a race. By way of example, if a horse is racing on Saturday, the last time that the horse may be injected is midnight on the Thursday prior to the race. The horse must not be injected on the Friday or at any time on the Saturday prior to running in the race. Participants are again reminded that for the purpose of this rule injection includes but is not limited to the insertion of a needle into a horse.

What? I doubt any other trainer would not understand what "one clear day" means. One Clear Day (in force from 7 September 2020) The amendments now prohibit anybody from giving a horse anything other than food and water anytime during the day before the day of a race. A substance may only be given to a horse on the day before a race with the written consent of a Stipendiary Steward or an Investigator and only if the horse needed it solely for welfare reasons

OK. That's a very different approach to mine as a punter. I have no interest in assessing which horse will be most likely to win an event, even though I have that assessment. On the basis that every horse has a chance of doing so, even if that is less than 1%, I'm trying to find horses which have a chance significantly better than the bookies assessment. I have little interest in figuring out the horse most likely to win.
-
I don't care how you derive them - plenty of successful ways - but a punter has to have them to price markets otherwise how do you assess whether an available price is worth taking? Just need to have ratings that are more accurate than the bookie's.

He could have been at the PWMC and placed the bet there on his phone couldn't he?

Surprisingly, no sign of her in the top 120 of the recently released Longines' ratings through November 5. Though "THINK ABOUT IT (AUS) [121] joins the rankings after his half-length victory over I WISH I WIN (NZ) [121] in the Tab Everest in Australia. https://www.ifhaonline.org/resources/WTRRankings/LWBRR_PressRelease.asp?pid=137 https://www.ifhaonline.org/resources/WTRRankings/LWBRR.asp?batch=115

Wholly pasta. What the hell do I do with all this brylcream? On a more serious note, I think the race and the run of In Secret which exceeded my expectations, certainly franks the Everest form.

Just a different way of doing things I guess. I've started 100s of horses but would not put a bit in their mouth before they've learned to start stop and steer via visual, voice and bodyweight signals. Don't use the bit to teach them that.
