You guys in the board finally sorted out a list of owned assets yet?
-
Getting into the worst time if yesr at aucklands track so no surprised
-
They had to replace the entire system at waikato and changed the canvasas of auckland and wanganui. All 3 are very expensive projects. Also setting up the straight track.
-
Id say some would be 100%. Im sure everyones had a dog or two that struggles to not full to pieces
-
Id imagine thered be alot of variables that would contribute to this. Time of year, track surface, track circumference, the dog itself, bad luck, sometimes training aswell etc. Example would be auckland. March-may every year, this track is a killer. Its worth noting the large majority of injuries are never picked up by the vet post racing so real data would be alot harder to make any real conclusions on, especially muscle injuries which may only start appearring after 6 or so hours
-
The same science papers that declared Tralagon j turn track would be the safest in Australia for it to be shut down 4 times in 2 yrs due to too many injuries as a result of the long straight leading into the bends? Racing, especially greyhound racing is different to other sports like rugby. Dogs are lean racing machines. Track surface plays a big part in injuries of a dog and unfortunately in NZ, the surfaces for the most part have not been good.
-
The large majority of trainers i talk to consistently complain about surfaces and nothing ever really gets done. Injuries will never decrease in NZ while track curators are amateur at best half the time.
-
I think you miss the point here. The biggest issue with NZ racing is the track surfaces. These still havent really been resolved even now
-
I'd go with the second option, cant read a race. Find it amazing how often these NZ stipes get decisions wrong
-
Australian racing is far ahead of NZ racing right now in many respects. The NZ board brought in some clown who ran NSW tracks into the ground 8 or so years ago then wondered why NZ had the same issues. Its poorly run in NZ and the same people make the same poor decisions. Its why as of right now, any new racing investments for me will be in the Australian industry and id suggest this to anyone in NZ

NZ tracks have always been a disaster. Raced in Aus and NZ and NZ surfaces are a disgrace. Let alone the wanganui, auckland and addington track being 3 of the worst 2 turn tracks ive ever raced on. Wentworth park, wairapa and old casino are probably the only 3 tracks i can think of with a worse design but wentys surface is far better. The amount of unnecessary injuries that happen on NZ tracks are certainly a problem that grnz have failed to resolve. A trainer needs to have 30-40dogs just to gaurantee 20 are able to race in NZ.

I see they spoke to the starter about "not checking" the boxes were closed properly. How is this the starters fault that the boxes were not working correctly? Surely they should have had a mechanic or someone on hand to look at the boxes after they stopped working due to a power cut.
-
Same shit different day - feature meeting and this joke of a club cant even get its boxes working correctly. Hand starting every race before the latches come of in race 10. Surely someone needs to be held accountable
-
Might have been a better solution to have a stand alone track with different distances. Time will tell i guess
-
I just dont see the straight track getting utilised often unless they matched middle distance stakes or shorten the distance for the 300m dogs to race. I used to have my own straight back in the day and 200-250m was ideal for sprinters, 300-350m for middle distance dogs and 400-450m for distance dogs. Any trainers that arent aware of this will find out fast. Then theres everything else alswell. Its in a poor location where the audience wont be able to see them, the track is grass and will only race 6 months a year like Capabala, the track the straights supposed to be based on, theres no running rail, its a drag lure with no inside rail at all. Seems to be little actual thinking here from grnz and a complete waste of money
-
Not too many people seemed too please with the set up in the cd
-
Makes completely no sense. This is before the logistics of dogs and handlers having to far to get there and on viewers at the track will have to move to watch it
-
Fucken awful decisions left right and centre Saw it yesterday. The project will be a complete failure. The tracks curved so the centres higher then the outside. They want this track to replace the sprint races at wanganui Which is insane. You will need strong 450m dogs for this distance. Most sprinters will struggle 250m straight let alone a 350m+ straight No middle distance dogs will race there because theres more money in middle distance races and itll be too long for the squibs. and the straight track they based the design of doesnt race for 6 months of the year. So whats the point?

Standard 6 of the Greyhound Animal Welfare standards. Vehicles that dont have an up to date warrant and rego are considered unsafe for transport of animals. Animal welfare act also states vehicles need to be up to current wof standards so really, its an animal welfare problem if anyone in any code is traveling around with an animal in a unwarranted or unregistered car
-
Fyi they do check vehicle warrants and if its not up to scratch, they will give you a warning and fine and if it isnt up to scratch next meeting, scratch your dogs and probably judiciary meeting. A few people have not been allowed to race because of it for weeks on end
-
Oregans had a cobalt reading that was over the limits and was mentioned in a desd animal case

Im wondering if its possible we dont test for levels, only that the drugs there. Turnwald paid for the b swab to get tested in a better lab so levels were provided. Only speculation but maybe this is the reason
-
They usually dont publish them. They published the Turnwald one for some reason
-
I believe this case did have the levels published as shown here: "[21] The estimated combined level of Amphetamine type substance (Methamphetamine and Amphetamine) detected in the urine sample was 1,630 ng/mL. (Statements of Robert Howitt and Dr Adam Cawley). The scientists stated that the estimated concentrations should be considered as qualitative and should not be interpreted for quantitative purposes. In comparison, the positive drug test cut off concentration applied in human urine drug testing under the international standard AS/NZS4308:2008 is 300 ng/mL (150 ng/mL Amphetamine and 150ng/mL Methamphetamine)." https://racingintegrityboard.org.nz/decisions/appeal-reserved-decision-dated-9-july-2021-angela-turnwald/
