I dont recall if they were high or not but atleast in NZ greyhounds, there is no threshold so any small trace is a positive.
-
No there hasnt. Media made some speculation in the past on the Turnwald one down south at Addington but it did genuinely sound like it was a contamination from the owner.
-
There hasnt been a case that wasnt environmental contamination though?

SUMMARY 69. Charges a. On the Methamphetamine Charge, the Respondent is disqualified for twelve months, commencing on 20 November 2023. b. On the Animal Welfare Charge, the Respondent is disqualified for a period of six months commencing on 20 November 2023. 70. The periods of disqualification are concurrent. 71. The Respondent is ordered to pay costs to the Informant of $6,026.54. 72. The Respondent is ordered to pay costs of the Adjudicative Committee of $2,500. What an absolute joke. Multiple animal welfare problems over the past 5 yrs and multiple positive swabs and all he gets is a one year ban, a fine and allowed to put all of his dogs under his other sons name. How is this punishment? Please explain. Especially after the Schofield case where they stopped anyone else or any connections from training on their property.

Usually either the dogs downgraded, has received some luck or more likely not conditioned great and improving with every run. I know from my own experience conditioning 40 greyhounds at once can be tough. In my opinion, 40 is the absolute maximum a trainer can and should handle from experience. Conditioning in upwards of 150 when they race 3x a week would be damn near impossible

Right on queue https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2023/10/top-greyhound-trainer-faces-disqualification-from-industry-after-dog-tests-positive-for-meth.html

No clue - but considering Mcinerney wasnt in the CD, the dogs should not have been in his name according to cases from the last 8 or so years.
-
His son in the CD had a positive to Meth I believe. He trained the dogs in the Mcinerney satelite kennels in the CD but the dogs were under J Mcinerney Sr name. Someone can correct me if im wrong but its been about 5 or 6 months since I personally heard about this. Pretty sure results were due out late October/early November.

I know he is not NZ based but will be a massive lost to the NZ and Aus industry. Sent many great dogs from Australia to Schofield, Fahey and Harding to name a few and many of his Winsome dog lines have gone on to create strong lines here in NZ. Had the opportunity to meet and work with his dogs in the past and he is truly a master with his dogs. Rip John Finn

Or many of them are just old ppl

Well GRNZ and the club only have themselves to blame if media dies puck this up. We all know the only reason Addingtons racing again is because the NZ cup is a week away
-
3 meetings in and 3 40+ day injuries now plus the one past the line. Better hope media dont pick this one up. Probably be around the time the Mcinerney case drops.
-
Addingtons new surface looks great! Only 2 40+ day injuries during races and one 40+ day injury from falling after the finishing line so far. Great work fellas! The last month has seen a huge difference! I bet the southern trainers are feeling relieved just how beneficial the surface upgrades have been. Side note - how long have pin muscles been 40 day standowns for?

Both PMs said yes to banning Greyhound racing
BitofaLegend replied to BitofaLegend's topic in Dog Chat
I agree they are an easy target but Greyhound racing in NZ has had nearly a decade to clean it self up to a higher standard like whats happened in Australia where they were hit harder and much earlier. The difference is you can see many of the differences over there and the board here failed to act until 2 years ago. I have spoken to 2 ex members of the board and both have said the board and grnz were a mess and what little power they had meant nothing as the board was generally a headless chicken. -
Well both National and Labour leaders said yes to this question. Is it close to the end?

How will Entain effect NZ greyhound racing?
BitofaLegend replied to Special Agent's topic in Dog Chat
Anyone that voices their concerns have either left the industry or cant be bothered with it anymore. -
Could be something to look at. One of the concerns reading the report is that the rib fails to mention any of its failures in the industry and only mention the grnz incompetence.
-
Greyhound racing in NSW has much more support than in NZ. I know many licensed people dont talk with external people here alot but common concesus with the people ive spoken to about greyhound racing is they think its cruel and nothings improved. Australia, they have different views towards it generally. I have my doubts this could be replicated here like Australia based on the trajectory of the industry.
-
Hasnt been released to the public, only that its grim and bleak. What do you expect? The industry largely sat on it's ass in relation to key issues and than tried to create the illusion it has done something. The industries social license expired years ago and its been a case of too little to late now. Just wait till the Mcinerney case hits the public.

Anyone notice this? Entain's chequered past.

I think another interesting detail here is the deal promised all 3 codes to be in operation and relies partly on this fact. Coincidence that the government review into greyhound racing has kept on getting pushed back? -
All of her dogs were also sold. Seemed very sudden. Brings in a group 1 dog from Australia than 2 months later, all dogs on his property have gone.
-
Speaking of the CD, why did Fredickson give it in so quickly?
-
Its also worth mentioning that all of the above cases penalties were not influenced by prior cases aswell.
-
None of those cases listed had any mention of a deliberate nobbling of any dog so how does that come into anything mentioned here? The issues with how the rules of racing are written, source of contamination is irrelevant. Your already guilty regardless
