  1. So why is it that we are not able to access the NZ TAB website?
  2. Currently overseas and can not get the TAB website up due to the new policy brought in by the TAB and Entain! Just looked on HRNZ site and they are now showing the fixed odds on that! Think this is a great initiative and great to see how much I am missing out on while unable to wager when overseas! Do the odds get updated or is it only the opening odds?
  3. Is there such a thing? Never be let out!
  4. Yep I can now. where I was I wasn’t being allowed to play the replays .
  5. Wouldnt allow Brodie on for $1k in one go Gamma! The AML law they adopting is $1k which the TAB is not abiding by the law! they probably wouldnt take a $1k top 3 from Brodie without slashing the odds They would more than likely let their preferred punters on though!
  6. Gamma, the point I was trying to make is that many punters nowadays just won’t bother punting into tight class racing with The Purdon’s dominating a 6 horse field. We will survive if we can keep the grass roots owners and trainers industry alive! The industry will not survive if we continue the way things are going at the moment. When HRNZ states that he believes that things are all positive on a recent interview, we know we are in deep trouble! Good punting.
  7. Gamma, always appreciate you comments even if they conflict with mine. Not sure that they are doing their best to bring attractive racing to us all the time? Whether Mark Purdon Barry Purdon etc. win in Auckland is irrelevant andnot important to most punters, and punters is what we need! We also need the smaller time owners and trainers participating or punters and other owners are going to be lost to the industry! Yes it does cost a lot of money nowadays to race any horse but currently HRNZ are living beyond their means and it is only due to the Entain cash splash! This will end and before we know it and then they will realise that Brodie and others were certainly on the money. Reality is that Entain share price is nothing to do with harness racing in NZ and they will be more than happy not to have it! They are not a gambling agency that is into harness racing and unfortunately that is going to play out! Gamma, you come from the angle of being a racing purist, nowadays I see it from a business point of view! Personally think it is going to take a lot more than a splurge of cash for 5 years to make harness racing a viable venture for the TAB! They are going about it the wrong way in my humble opinion and time will only tell?
  8. You are correct Mikey. The Auckland population is now dominated by people born overseas/ immigrants who you never see on course or very much wagering on machines! It is the same around NZ, Asian/Indian just are not into harness racing! They are into the faster paced quicker losing Casinos! This needs go change otherwise it is pointless quoting this stuff about the big population in Auckland, as it is now not an overly attractive place to live lol!
  9. Gamma, I do know how it works, but as I say the business plan they have adopted is extremely flawed! They need all punters for turnover! They place far too much reliance on yield, it all flows back into racing!
  10. Gamma, does seem a bit hard to believe some of these big bets that they say with just how risk averse they are to other punters. They restrict some punters bets to netting $200 or $300 and yet they try to suggest that they are taking these large bets from others?
  11. So the TAB is prepared to take a liability of $100k on one horse and yet stop other punters from being able to wager on other horses? Totally flawed business plan and is backfiring on them. Time the Committee came out with what they have been discussing or has it not met as yet??
  12. Form is temporary but class is permanent as they say, Chief! Thing is they may well think they are achieving what they desire by heavily restricting certain punters. Reality is that it is costing them turnover and they will never be able to stop us making some sort of a profit, so why dont they let us offload??
  13. Not looking at fields and can’t even watch replays at the moment, as over in Europe for many weeks. Most money to be made in the looser class racing in my opinion but then again everyone has there way of punting! Are we sure that the punter that gets preferential treatment on the Stonewall horses is actually Steve Stockman???
  14. Gamma, each to their own with how you punt! Brodie doesn’t punt on tight class racing for obvious reasons. I would be surprised if there are many restricted harness punters that are betting on tight class racing, but you never know? Lol Anyway always money to be made even if TAB try to shut you down.
  15. Na, not worth the effort, although they now have the $5k minimum payout fixed win! Never have and never will wager on shorties like that!
  16. Certainly an Entire last time I looked!
  17. No one is stealing them Paleface? Still required as not being gelded!
  18. Mikey, lol Entain/TAB treat everyone fairly! 😂 😂
  19. Brodie has a big gambling problem Chief! They won’t let him on for much. With the $5k minimum fixed win now change of tactics 😂
  20. TAB, chucking money at a losing cause is always going to end in tears HRNZ need to stop the folly that putting on races with big stakes is going to work! They race the wrong way around for a start, they have not got the interest in the harness racing for a variety of reasons. HRNZ in my humble opinion have not got the right people making the right decisions unfortunately. Anyone know what has happened to the Committee or was that just wind?
  21. Not so much of the “very old” thankyou!
  22. Chief, you know as well as I do that harness racing is not paying its way! All the Entain money is doing is giving a very false impression of the true state of play! Frankly it is a poor indictment on the once great industry and to be having the financial lifeline that was the Entain money, used the way it is just shows why the harness industry got it self in decline! Anyway We cant worry about the inevitable and just have to wait and see how long it can continue once the money has run out!
  23. Chief, they are blowing money left right and centre from stakes, bonuses, and other poorly thought out implementations! They are losing any opportunity to increase turnover and get new participants into harness racing. They restrict punters that win and lose by adopting amounts that are pathetically low. They put up odds as they think they should be at and then decide that no we don’t want punters wagering on them! It is biting them in the proverbial!
  24. They lose the promotion of racing by losing those that are the bigger punters. No one races a horse for the stake money as an investment. The returns are just not there nowadays that is why syndicates are increasing in numbers. Turnover increase and profit would be greater if they actually like Bookies should. Put up the odds. Take the wager and make the profit from the increased turnover. When they take a wager and slash the fixed odds all they are doing is restricting turnover greatly as they don’t get anyone wagering on that horse again in sufficient amounts. Hugely detrimental to the industry as serious punters are lost from punting and racing horses.
  25. Tote pools are just not worth the effort for any serious punter that wants to win! Industry is in serious trouble with the risk averse policy that the TAB Bookies have adopted. Just not going to work but then again it is all about toiled to them rather than turnover and profit. Unfortunately their policy has a bigger negative flow on for attracting any new owners and punters to harness racing. Gammalite keeps saying that it is wealthy men subsidising harness racing in several states in Oz. There is no one in NZ that is stupid enough to fund TAB shortfall so if they don’t change their policy then things will be dire.
