  1. Mile racing is terrible to bet into for the serious punter that wants to consistently win! The winners and place getters in mile racing is just so inconsistent and you can not follow firm to much degree. Maybe the Clubs have been told to program these ridiculous short distance races so the punters who are serious dont bother? Anyway the fields at Omakau are good for punting on and should be a good day there, unless it gets too wet!
  2. The two big races at Omakau p. $40k each are over 2000 metres! Wondering why they programmed them over the sprint distance rather than the 2600 metres which would be better viewing and attract more wagering? Not sure why these clubs want to program races over these sprint distances? If you are iut 5he back st Roxburgh then you can forget about it!
  3. Reality is that there would be a heap of horses from NZ that could run 1.50 for the mile on that Menangle track. The Menangle track is very roomy and enables these very fast times but does it really make for great racing?
  4. Taku, you are correct, just an absolute turnoff is the mile racing! Why on earth do they continue to run them? Happy New Year to all!
  5. It would appear to be another meeting where Auckland remains a drain on the coffers and loses money! Looked at the win and place pools for the Auckland Cup not long before the race and $3k in the win and $1500 in the place pool!
  6. Been out so havent watched all the racing from Alexandra Park but the ones I have seen are not overly exciting. Auckland Cup just run was a borefest, and given to Republican Party! Not a great spectacle and very hard to see how Auckland is going to be able to attract new participants to racing?
  7. Mikey, have you ever heard of the NZ TAB actually restricting punters that are losing ? Personally have never heard of this and highly doubt it would happen, they love the losing punters! In fact they totally encourage it by giving them free bets to keep them going.
  8. I am sure the tote pools would have been good at Mot today as they always are at this Xmas meeting. They always get a great crowd when the weather is reasonable, that is not raining! From Trackside viewing It appeared the crowd was not as big as many other years but then again it wasnt all that sunny, so some may have stayed home? Most oncourse would be not regular punters and therefore were probably betting on the tote rather than fixed odds! Still maintain that turnover could double what they are currently taking on harness racing, if they were to be accepting wagering from the punters that want to offload, rather than restricting them to significantly low amounts! What are they scared of, as the odds are always in their favour?
  9. Galah, they are not worried at increasing turnover! They are not wanting punters offloading on harness racing they are wanting losing punters who are not wagering significant amounts! They are not prepared to accept bets of any note and I am constantly hearing of punters receiving nowhere what they want to wager! The decision to sell out to Entain who have no idea about racing by McAnulty, is going to massively back fire on racing. Is anyone getting good amounts on fixed odds consistently??
  10. Yes good punting fields to make money today! Reality is the TAB don’t want the bigger wagering punters!! TAB wanting to increase turnover is bollacks!
  11. Just read the stipes report in regards to the scratching of Hobbs and I would just like for say what a load of BS! Whoever decided that the horse should be scratched under rule 213(1)(e) due to unsatisfactory manners prior to the start must be watching something we havent been watching? Incompetence from the Stipes as the horse was not scratched prior to the start! The horse Hobbs lined up and had played up after the tape was released and therefore should have been declared a starter! The decisions made by these Stipes often are often so poor that we can not have too much confidence in them!
  12. Be very interesting to read the Stipes report! Definitely should have been classed as a runner, the Stipes I believe have made another error!
  13. Why was Hobbs classed as a non runner? Watched the race and can not see why it is money back?
  14. Hard to believe a few of the big win bets today on a grass track at Westport! The Bookies take these bets and yet restrict smaller bets? one bet was $10k @ $2.50 was never a good value bet at all! There were others that also looked more of a gamble than a worthwhile punt? My point is with punters offloading like this, surely in best interests of the TAB/Entain to stop all restrictions on punters and get the turnover and profit up??
  15. You wouldve thought so? There were some not that bright win bets today at Westport! With these types of punters for the TAB, it would only be fair for them to let everyone wager what they want, especially seem it is xmas!
  16. Question for the galloping punters? Are galloping punters restricted from punting as much as harness punters?. I was told years ago from an employee in Petone that galloping punters werent restricted by the TAB Bookies! There will surely be some that are but is it big numbers or just a few?
  17. Was anyone here, down at Ashburton? The crowd appeared very small despite what Brittany stated on Trackside, with the camera focussed on 5 people 😂 Have been told that the crowd numbers were dismal, but then again were we expecting different?
  18. Definitely a programming blunder without doubt, but they have made much bigger ones! When Entain was brought in by the TAB, signed off by McAnulty and Dean Shannon and Brad Steele brought in, many had a lot of optimism! How wrong it has been proven, and things are not looking at all good, unless someone can come on and tell us that things are going good??????
  19. Potentially they could be, as a cheaper bred horse could be trained by an owner/ trainer or someone who trains more on a part time basis. I appreciate that it is very expensive to have harness horses trained, but I have serious misgivings that the HRNZ idea to pay out $60k stake money for 12 races today was a good idea! The amount paid out for the revenue from wagering just does not make sense with the way things are financially. The tote pools were absolutely pathetic, not sure about fixed turnover but I would imagine the Bookies wouldnt have done that well with many hotties mostly winning? They wouldve had just as many horses racing if the stakes were $25k or less and the $60k was just plain dumb! Good that some studs have dropped their stallions down to $5k and slightly cheaper to breed but then we all know that the service fee is probably the cheap part in getting a race horse to the races! Personally believe that if an owner goes to a $5k stallion so it can race in a few years in todays races, then they are not overly intelligent! No way on earth these races are going to be in existence with a $60k stake when they are old enough to race! The industry just can not afford it and it is only the Entain cash splash that enabled it today! Just telling it the way it is, unless Brad Steele can come out and state that Brodie is not on the money?
  20. Why have all the races been given “Listed” status??? Seems crazy when they are restricted to horses whose dads stood st $5k or under? Maidens and horses outclassed racing in listed races? Owners will make the most of the $60k stake this year as who can see it being held again next year?
  21. You would have to think they are penalty free! No one is bothering to bet into the tote on any of the races, and its no wonder! most will be wagering on the fixed odds on the hotties if you can be bothered!
  22. Her U.D.R. Is .2343 so that would not make her the worst driver in NZ? Personally think she is pretty good, however I dont back her as I dont wager on Auckland harness and havent for a long time! Forbury, why do you rate her so lowly ? I thought Sharee T was your worst? Lol
  23. The big worry that people with any level of business sense can see the writing on the wall and yet the ones on the salaries just dont seem to be able to? There are 34 races over Invercargill, Auckland and Ashburton and the stakes paid out is $1.62 million average of approx. $47,000 per race! How on earth does this make any sense when there is only a few thousand in the tote pools? They are going to be getting a hiding financially, but why worry everything is positive according to The CEO of HRNZ?
  24. BOAY is the Premier site, and it is not boring! We talk about issues that affect racing whether it is good or not so good! The other site has posters that tend to just want to get on with other trying to get self affirmation. Not overly stimulatory but then again a lot of people like that by the look of it?
  25. Fat fingers, $150m per year
