  1. Thanks for that
  2. we can see you are wetting your pants in anticipation Thomass
  3. And that all comes down to the fact that the people who run the industry have not the slightest connection with the industry itself. Taking away a direct line from the Boards to the stakeholders has rooted the industry
  4. Appreciate that And i have the same feeling - and wasting copious amounts of time putting together submissions like this when you know they are probably going to be ignored REALLY annoys me.
  5. I told you I wasn't interested in your piffle but why the f... do you have this fascination with Dean McKenzie? I do not know the man, have never spoken to him nor even ever seen him(except on TV) and am certainly not going to be sending any submission on this his way. I have no idea what the hell you are talking about(but then again with you that is not unusual)
  6. thanks for that Truly if we got a turnover of $27500 on a good fine day or a total of 46 horses wanting to go around I would be taking the hint I have always said pure economics will tell us when it is time to go - The owners trainers and punters should tell us when it is time not those idiots at NZTR
  7. Yeah as I say we will agree to differ but I was more getting at tax concessions for the breeding industry that the tote revenues
  8. Right they are going to see it anyhow today so may as well put it online. Thomass I am not interested in your drivel but if anyone else has constructive criticism I would welcome an email through BOAY. In your case Mardigras you and I will have to differ on the topic of government generosity in Aussie and Ireland. One way or another they have advantages over NZ financially though in Aussie's case the advantage obviously comes from the sheer volume of punting taking place. 20190319092546.pdf
  9. For a while they were not being loaded last but it seems to be the practice again now
  10. If anyone is interested I will put the Reefton submission on the venue review up on the site. I suspect that that document has been done to death but if anyone is interested??? In fact there is a few hours to go so constructive criticism would be welcomed as well(note the word 'constructive' Thomass - incoherent babble is not required
  11. Are you sure that the reason they wanted a barrier blanket wasn't to make sure he was one of the last loaded?
  12. all a bit sad really isn't it? They continue to alienate the many of the few remaining devotees in the blind belief that the 18-44 are going to step into the breach.
  13. Big John didn't write that part of the report though - under fairly intense questioning from me at Omoto Bernard virtually admitted that Campbell Moncur provided the part three info for the report(well put it this way when I said to him that it was Moncur he did not deny it just said we mustn't get into personalities)
  14. Yes and agree - I just hopped onto the website and no Te Aroha Perhaps it is a new technique - simply don't bother with putting the fields up
  15. Now Bernard and his cohorts are flogging us this line about how we have too many tracks and need to concentrate our racing around the 'quality' venues so people have a 'quality' experience of racing with 'quality' facilities and a better 'quality' of nag participating. But in the last five weeks there have been four Riccarton Meetings(admittedly three on weekdays) and the total oncourse turnover, for the lot, has been $110000. Wellington last Saturday managed just under $20000 on course. If we did turnovers like that at Reefton Bernard would get his way and we would be finished quick smart I am struggling to get it through to these guys that people do not want to go to the races at these poncy dumps but surely this must be giving them the signal???
  16. You really would wonder ... The South Island gallop meetings are invariably meeting 6 but this time Ashburton is meeting 4 and from what you say Te Aroha is meeting 6. Another example of it ain't broke but we will fix it anyway
  17. 36mm? On the Coast we call that a sunshower.
  18. Wellington RC ..... clueless Thomass??? That makes two of you
  19. You might not want it but knowing NZTR's record for bumbling cockups you will probably get it.
  20. I reckon you would weight them by price. Adds in the factor of how low a price do you set against the weight you are prepared to carry. Makes it more interesting and God knows NZ Racing needs an injection of interest.
  21. I cannot recall gallops having them and my memory goes back to the mid seventies
  22. I don't remember them in NZ Fred? How long ago? When I was Reefton Secretary 20 years ago I enquired about running them but got told they had no regulations for them and would not allow them. I think they would be a great idea - the higher your price the more weight you get and maybe a maximum price of $20k or something. would have created a bit of interest and our club would not have been looking to grab an excessive percentage of the prices.
  23. I think it is $250k each isn't it? But when I think about it I would bet most of the ARC's $1m it puts into stakes will be to prop up KM night purses.
  24. A touch over $4m? Where did you get that info from? And $1,000,000 spread over 25 racedays is eff all. And you do not include the oncourse from Reefton. And even if it was $4m the NZTR probably put up $1.3m for the days racing so it is still almost 33% of the total turnover which is vastly vastly more percentage wise than Reefton.
  25. Haven't you heard him say it? it was his stock sentence prior to Karaka
