Good work Weasel. And anyone who thinks they can spare a little doesn't have to declare how much they donate - every little bit will be appreciated. I'm sure, and will carry with it the best wishes of BOAY'ers. Besides the monetary benefit for young Maija - it shows people care & we all know there is a huge spiritual & mental element in coping with & recovering from these life-changing injuries. Very quick and easy to do via internet banking and afterall - a donation of $10 is only 2 cups of coffee .. Cheers, J.

I think so Sir.....I still harbor a faint but wistful hope for a WSTB fairytale ... ?

Fair enough Hesi ... and I'm ok with you guys giving yourselves a well-deserved pat on the back too. Generally most of us can sniff out propaganda though & work out those who merit retaliation / response - and those who are better ignored while we go about our own business. Thanks for your work here Hesi.

My previous observation made - I'm not too interested in engaging in a p#ssing comp with the alternate site ... just hope this forum continues to be well run & well patronised by humorous, informed & passionate racing people. If uber-egos and misogyny can also be discarded - I will be even happier. I participated in some excellent & fun discourse at the old place & even miss some of the folks there. But I was over the nastiness from a minority few & the playing favorites (deleting posts/unjustified criticism by moderators/banning posters) which went on as a result of misplaced loyalty. I wouldn't go to a bar or cafe to hang out with "real people" who carried on like that & I decided I could do without it online as well. So I no longer post there and visit rarely. I am grateful to have an alternate site to inhabit. Onwards & upwards everyone.

... I don't follow the politics so didn't realise this is what happened. No real surprise. I always think when I see these dominant, vitriolic types - with their loyal coteries - that it will only be a matter of time until that central character turns his acid-tongue on those closest to him. A sad lesson for Scoobs perhaps ....

Nice run just now - the old fella looked to be doing good work late to claim 4th ... hang in there you reckon?

Good Reasons For Me to Donate to this fundraiser: 1. If it was good enought for me to put $ in my TAB a/c today - it's only right I give a larger sum to a good cause 2. A few years back I took raffle tickets on course to support another injured jockey - won a lovely prize - this feels right to give again 3. It's what we'd expect from a member of the good hearted community that is BOAY 4. The fund is backed by the Mustelid Code of Conduct (Integrity or Death) 5. For Maija My deposit has now been made (Internet Banking Reference "Jess"). Thanks for setting it up Weasel - and thanks Hesi & the Chief for their support.

Haha Weasel... i think the clue has confirmed my suspicions ...u cld send it coiled up in a standard nz post envelope eh ... ?

Go the Barman! I hope he goes a slasher but I'm confident if he doesn't - there's a nice retirement paddock waiting for him. I believe the owners will reward the warhorse as he deserves. A fine beast who has not had his share of luck (esp in Melbourne Cups) but has undoubtedly been the sourceof many thrills, big nights out and a great deal of pride for his owners. All the best - to men, women and steed ? J. PS: cheers Hedders - and I bid you good night Sir ...

Please don't talk about leaks and the National Party in the same thread. We know how that scenario plays out ... and it's even less of a happy ending than one abandoned set of trials at Te Aroha .... ?

Loving this Weasel, Hesi & co. As Blackadder would say - plan so cunning you could stick a tail on it and call it a weasel ? Oh and it just so happens we have a Weasel in our midst! (Let's not dwell on whether he really has a tail... ?) I don't like the idea of 15% coming off the top when this way, the Mustelid Code of Conduct would see all our donations go in full to Maija. Don't know you fellas personally but feel like I know enough to trust your good hearts and will be donating Thanks and I will check back in for details. Go BOAY!!! Jess

Yes perhaps - but remember that abandonments have not just been at the smaller country tracks - they have been happening at major venues as well. It might be logical to assume when tracks are closed down, that concentrating resources & expertise (which was previously spread thinly across the motu) will put an end to these debacles. But I'm not so sure the industry leaders even recognise what expertise is - or understand what resources are needed. So I believe that until the governance issues are sorted out once and for all - this closing tracks juggernaut will not prove to be the silver bullet it's touted to be ... J.

Been outta the racing loop today. Came in off the farm spraying thistles to see on TV, jockeys and suits wandering round looking at the track ... Then I heard the steward talking about why it was called off ... Then I saw a replay of a field of horses coming round the turn and at least one slipping ... Talk about deja vu all over again. I could have even "sung along" with the steward's wee piece to camera. It was all eerily predictable and familiar .... What a bloody shambles.

Monetised Mustelid ..... Nice punting Weasel ... ☝️?

Not me Malty. Matches quite nicely with one of my mares but I generally have a fairly cursory look at Waikato's horses as their roster is always richly priced IMO. All the best to those who choose to patronise them though - just generally not where I see value when looking for sires myself. J.

I was a bit taken aback when I was asked this. It is a very blunt message asking for a mono-syllabic and broad brush response it seems: "yes I support the Messara Report" (or presumably no I don't - or alternatively -- you didn't hear from me because the email went to my junkmail ... or I am apathetic or illiterate). All or nothing. In or out. One size fits all. I do care - I am invested - but it just seemed very ... ummm .... basic. And like someone was counting raised hands in a room rather than wanting to hear my actual opinion or ideas. Or am I just over-thinking it & puttingit through the cpmplicator ..... All the best, Jess.

Maybe this was part of a long term plan for him? Otherwise the timing is .... interesting. Some would have wanted to see the ship thru' the stormy waters. But there cld well be personal factors at play here that none of us know about. So no judgement here on tht score.

Didn't see it but did hear about it. All the very best to you Sarah - hope you have a smooth & speedy recovery. Jess,

Chief- I'm not usually one for censorship as you know but I think that last post should go. I think a little more respect is called for.

Long-O - steady on. You are tarring a helluva lot of ppl with a very broad black brush with yr statement...

The "statement" I read was on the Allstars website - so you would expect it to be directed at their own "fans" or customers. As such you would also expect it to be, essentially, self-serving. It took a certain position - mostly dwelling on the treatment of the accused - rather than the accusations. As Brando alluded to - painting the accused & wider industry as victims. Whatever the merit of that argument, I think that is a side-show. It distracts from the principal issues here. And to claim it the industry is clean at this point is probably more an "aspirational goal" than a reality. The past & the present suggest otherwise - as well the this man should know. I'm not saying it's rotten to the core & acknowledge his right to promulgate whatever messages he wants from his own platform. But denial & rose-tinted glasses won't save the industry & its reputation. We might as well embrace the scrutiny now & try to turn this into an opportunity to sort out whatever (and whoever) is determined to have gone wrong. There is more chance of re-building confidence in the industry that way than walking round like a kid with chocolate all over its face crying foul because it's been accused of stealing the choccy biscuits ...
