    TAB Website

Yep ... crashed on me too ... admittedly did leave it close to the cup as I didn't finish work soon enough to get onto it earlier. Never mind - actually I saved myself a few dolars. Thanks TAB ?

Thx TW. I was wrong re CD connection - just the half bro trained there. Cheers. J.
  3. I've received wine, wine glasses and money for winning races but neither the horse or me ever got choccies ... ?

Have noticed for a while now how the historic trainer drops off the display on the website. From memory they used to remain there for all time. Whoever was the last trainer of that horse...

Yes you do that weasel. Thx even my delicate fingers seem fat on this phone) I think you are right about the CD but but I can't recall either. I know the (half?) brother Sligo is trained in the CD- at Awapuni I think. Big money has been turned down for him. The right decision? Time will tell. But as the owners don't need the dosh - why cash him in if they believe in the horse I guess.
  6. And one of my alltime hated phrases ..."going forward" Most often used in a context in which there is no other direction to be heading! Just a redundant little pair of words which people somehow think adds meaning or gravitas to whatever they are saying. Funny really when it has a reverse effect on me. I'm inclined to disregard anything which is said or written in a sentence alongside these 2 words and have been known to delete emails without even reading the rest of them once I encounter the phrase. So far this approach has served me well because most people using the phrase are idiots.
  7. A "serious racehorse"?? (As distinct from a jokey, hardcase horse.who takes the mickey out of his mates, never does his homework and just goes to the races to eat his lunch). I don't mind it actually .. it just makes me smile ..
  8. Forgive the departure fm the racing theme but this rugby one is idiotic ... "they have come (or they are here) to play". No s##t sherlock!!!
  9. Yes!! Has infiltrated commentaries bigtime of late ..
  10. Haha ..."yeah nah" .... a certain prominent CD trainer when interviwed starts answers to most questions like that ... mkes me smile ..
  11. "Time honored" race ....

Didn't bet on the race but loved the result anyway. Not to mention J-Mac's comments - kiwi owners, kiwi trainer and kiwi jockey. It doesn't get much better than that (apologies if I have misquoted you James - it's just as I recall the post-race comments ...)
  13. Sorry NM - I am ruled by my self-interest on this one. I hate the darned things and would gladly see them gone. I have wonderful neighbors who "get it" and pretty much due to a couple of us who have horses - the whole lot of us don't indulge. I am very grateful for their consideration. My sister is not as lucky - has rural neighbors with townie ways - they go nuts with pyrotechnics every year and it is a nightmare for her. I know I sound like the fun-Police but just because horses get spooked by lots of other things it doesn't mean adding a once-a-year, guaranteed dead-set-scare-the-living-daylights-outta-them occasion is a good idea. I have a horse who initially hated the local topdressing pilot's low passes and the neighbor's chainsaw. Clearly those things rightfully continued and I worked through it with my big 16.2hh scaredy-cat who is now wary rather than panicked by those stimuli. Fireworks are a bridge too far.
  14. My local spy who lives not far from the course talks of showers/drizzle since day-break today. Track showing as a 5 currently. Makes me nervous ... keep having flashbacks to so many other days walking into the lounge between outdoor jobs to see suits 'n' jocks walking around on the track disconsolately .... Good luck everyone. J.
  15. Good work Weasel. And anyone who thinks they can spare a little doesn't have to declare how much they donate - every little bit will be appreciated. I'm sure, and will carry with it the best wishes of BOAY'ers. Besides the monetary benefit for young Maija - it shows people care & we all know there is a huge spiritual & mental element in coping with & recovering from these life-changing injuries. Very quick and easy to do via internet banking and afterall - a donation of $10 is only 2 cups of coffee .. Cheers, J.
  16. I think so Sir.....I still harbor a faint but wistful hope for a WSTB fairytale ... ?
  17. Fair enough Hesi ... and I'm ok with you guys giving yourselves a well-deserved pat on the back too. Generally most of us can sniff out propaganda though & work out those who merit retaliation / response - and those who are better ignored while we go about our own business. Thanks for your work here Hesi.
  18. My previous observation made - I'm not too interested in engaging in a p#ssing comp with the alternate site ... just hope this forum continues to be well run & well patronised by humorous, informed & passionate racing people. If uber-egos and misogyny can also be discarded - I will be even happier. I participated in some excellent & fun discourse at the old place & even miss some of the folks there. But I was over the nastiness from a minority few & the playing favorites (deleting posts/unjustified criticism by moderators/banning posters) which went on as a result of misplaced loyalty. I wouldn't go to a bar or cafe to hang out with "real people" who carried on like that & I decided I could do without it online as well. So I no longer post there and visit rarely. I am grateful to have an alternate site to inhabit. Onwards & upwards everyone.
  19. ... I don't follow the politics so didn't realise this is what happened. No real surprise. I always think when I see these dominant, vitriolic types - with their loyal coteries - that it will only be a matter of time until that central character turns his acid-tongue on those closest to him. A sad lesson for Scoobs perhaps ....
  20. Nice run just now - the old fella looked to be doing good work late to claim 4th ... hang in there you reckon?
  21. Good Reasons For Me to Donate to this fundraiser: 1. If it was good enought for me to put $ in my TAB a/c today - it's only right I give a larger sum to a good cause 2. A few years back I took raffle tickets on course to support another injured jockey - won a lovely prize - this feels right to give again 3. It's what we'd expect from a member of the good hearted community that is BOAY 4. The fund is backed by the Mustelid Code of Conduct (Integrity or Death) 5. For Maija My deposit has now been made (Internet Banking Reference "Jess"). Thanks for setting it up Weasel - and thanks Hesi & the Chief for their support.
  22. Haha Weasel... i think the clue has confirmed my suspicions ...u cld send it coiled up in a standard nz post envelope eh ... ?
  23. Go the Barman! I hope he goes a slasher but I'm confident if he doesn't - there's a nice retirement paddock waiting for him. I believe the owners will reward the warhorse as he deserves. A fine beast who has not had his share of luck (esp in Melbourne Cups) but has undoubtedly been the sourceof many thrills, big nights out and a great deal of pride for his owners. All the best - to men, women and steed ? J. PS: cheers Hedders - and I bid you good night Sir ...
  24. Please don't talk about leaks and the National Party in the same thread. We know how that scenario plays out ... and it's even less of a happy ending than one abandoned set of trials at Te Aroha .... ?
  25. Loving this Weasel, Hesi & co. As Blackadder would say - plan so cunning you could stick a tail on it and call it a weasel ? Oh and it just so happens we have a Weasel in our midst! (Let's not dwell on whether he really has a tail... ?) I don't like the idea of 15% coming off the top when this way, the Mustelid Code of Conduct would see all our donations go in full to Maija. Don't know you fellas personally but feel like I know enough to trust your good hearts and will be donating Thanks and I will check back in for details. Go BOAY!!! Jess
