  1. Oaks favourite Dijon Bleu out for season Thu, 15 Feb 2018 NZ Racing Desk Injury has forced leading three-year-old filly Dijon Bleu out for the season. Pre-post New Zealand Oaks favourite Dijon Bleu has suffered an injury and won’t race again this season. The Lisa Latta-trained filly was the pre-post favourite for next month’s Trentham feature following her dominant win in the Gr. 2 Sir Tristram Fillies’ Classic at Te Rapa last Saturday. “Dijon Bleu has been officially withdrawn from the New Zealand Oaks today and will be turned out for the rest of the season,” Latta said. “We thought after the Waikato race she had simply knocked a leg, but after consultation with my vet and taking the horse’s best interest into consideration, we have decided it is best to send her for a spell. We are looking forward to seeing her back as a four-year-old.” The Tony Pike-trained Treasure is the new favourite for the Al Basti Equiworld New Zealand Oaks at $5 from Milseain at $6, Savvy Coup $7 and Mark Two $9. A career ending injury in fact? (not sure what the nature of it was ...) I see the filly is Lot 661 at the upcoming Gold Coast broodmare sales ...
  2. Not sure what you mean Hesi - what i was pointing out was that while a lot of people might not have liked what was going on they wanted to and enjoyed participating in the competitions. Much as I enjoyed the chat and exchange of information so barring some self-imposed holidays I stuck around there as well. Voicing my objections at various times changed nothing on the site but I expressed my point of view. I'm not being hard on anyone - it's good to have choices and now we have a choice of forums - which it appears will have some distinct differences in rules, style and membership . J.
  3. Weak and scared? Or just greedy? I don't think I have ever entered a competition on that site so that's not what motivates me but I can see from the traffic on those threads how popular they are. Perhaps everyone just wants to be a winner. Also bear in mind I think there was some censorship going on if you posted something that they didn't want displayed so maybe some of the objections may not have been visible There certainly was developing a atmosphere of fear of being derided, exposed or chewed up and spat out (in a forumly sense!). Maybe that quietened some people down. You may find they simply vote with their feet and BOAY membership swells
  4. The other thing i suspect the Chief is awake to is undue influence of others. Beware who you get into bed with (in a business sense). Initially it may appear they bring riches however all that glisters (glitters) is not gold - those riches may have conditions attached. A sting in their tail. Everyone has an agenda. Nek minute your site, your standards & your mana have been hijacked by a malevolent force. I have a feeling the Chief will have learned from what has happened over the last couple of years and we will benefit from that knowledge.... J.
  5. Cheers Hesi. That talks about disclosure of identity. Not whether an administrator will trawl through members' PMs ... would be interested in what the Chief has to say about his site / position on this ...
  6. Good question. I suppose anything is possible online but my expectation is that PMs are private and would not be accessed by a third party (that includes a site admunistrator) except in exceptional circumstances eg. Investigation of criminal offending. Chief - what can you tell.us about BOAY? Can u access our PMs? WILL you access our PMs? J.
  7. Cheers NM - & please don't think I'm walking out the door yelling abuse after me - I expressed my feelings at the time (as did others) - but on it went. So there were warning signs and opportunities for change - but change didn't come ....
  8. Yes Flag. What I thought was really regretful - and one of the reasons I took quite a long holiday from the site at one stage - was the inconsistency of the responses / sanctions. Certain people would get away with vitriol bordering on criminal at times. Just horrible behavior. While others - if they dared be (even respectfully) critical of certain favored people - would be slammed, shamed or even banned. I did return though as there were many good & knowledgable people and interesting chat. But at times it was not only unpleasant but a very obviously uneven field with too much "playing favorites" IMO. Each to their own though and maybe some people enjoy that stuff so great we all have choices. Cheers, J
  9. Seems to be saying just that by the message posted at the start of this thread .... that is rather weird ... I don't know any other forum which places a demand on members/users that their membership must be exclusive to their site only! Actually the more I think of it, it's not rather weird - it's truly bizarre! Who does that? If a forum owner has a beef over intellectual property or whatever - there are well established processes to seek redress. Turning on all your "customers" will neither achieve that aim or encourage them to stay - or attract new custom, I would've thought. I hope with a bit of calm and time that he rethinks his approach .... (some people found RC could be heavy-handed at times when they particpated - maybe it's even worse if you look like you may leave!?) J.
  10. ... not sure of the weight that argument carries for me. Like why did the con-man rip off the old lady when surely he knew they'd paper-trail his frauds ... (still plenty of con-men around doin' their stuff and getting caught from time to time) Each case on its merits but their history does not help convince onlookers of innocence in this case Flagship. Maybe it was Suzy the waitress, bearing mmmmmm Moccona - who took a quick trip down under to the harness then hightailed it back to South Africa ... And if you think that's far-fetched - look no further than what passes for an effective (partial) defence in the TB industry in recent times (need I say more?) - and all is forgiven and the transgressors still seem to be regarded by some as darlings of the industry. Sad and sorry times indeed. J.
  11. Hey Flash ..I've been pretty keen on Burgundy but things seem to have quietened off a little the last few months for him on the track. I still like him though and will be interested to see what the new crew at CS set his fee at for 2018. I don't take too much notice of the sales prices as I'm not a sales breeder and there is far too much smoke n mirrors in that caper to read a lot into it IMO ... What are you looking at Flash - and how many mares are you looking to breed this year? Cheers, J
