Body worn cameras (BWCs) are being introduced by the RIB from 2 October 2023, primarily to protect the safety of our investigators, while also providing evidential benefits.

 

A BWC is a small camera worn on the clothing or attached to a vest worn by an investigator, used to gather audio and video.

 

Research shows these cameras, commonly worn by people in compliance roles, will be a deterrent against anti-social and obstructive behaviour such as verbal or physical abuse, which may occur while Investigators are making enquiries in the course of their work.

 

A camera will only be activated where an Investigator has concerns for their safety and / or those around them, or in an investigative capacity to gather evidence.

 

To ensure the correct operation of these devices, the RIB has completed a privacy impact assessment, implemented new Standard Operating Procedures, along with each Investigator receiving training.

Is this what happens when ex police take over the RIB? This sounds very police state to me. What cases of serious abuse has there been to bring this on?

I think the worst I've seen is someone called an RIB Investigator a "F...ing idiot".

Not that it seems to help much.  I saw a photo of them dressed up before an INCA raid.  They were wearing Poilice clothing, flak jackets and radios.   All that evidence has worked out well for them.....NOT!

Basically the culture created by hiring ex-Cops is that they believe the racing industry is a cesspit of crime.

Was in a couple of other large professional organisations last week. There was evidence of the odd security person but they were not wearing body cams and certainly didn't act like they were expecting their valued customers to attack them in any way. What on earth are the RIB thinking here? There's a chance they'll end up getting exactly what they are asking for.

If that's remotely necessary in the game, I'm not sure I want to play any more.

I told one to get fukked at 11am in the morning at a dog meeting when they wanted to drug test me. Called another a scumbag and joe hunt for back dooring a trainer in a Ross Neal operation. They are very low hanging fruit on the tree of morals.

What a deadset tragedy John Oatham didn't have one on on January 5th.  He could have shown conclusive evidence of the slip marks that Madison Rose made to prove the track was unsafe and also played us the footage of the Jockeys in the room 'agreeing unanimously' to abandon the meeting.
