Happy Sunrise
Is he a false favourite for the Cup after his two runs back? Has he not come back as good this time around or is he just getting his fitness back? His lack of a dominant performance has really opened up the Cup for anyone. Maybe the horse with the best run will win the cup....
Counter Punch
I'm going to go with getting his fitness back. Mark was certainly expecting him to need that run yesterday and almost predicted that he would blow out late. I would imagine we will see a very different version of him come next Monday at Ashburton... Could you back him as favourite at the moment? Absolutely not IMO. Newmarket
Battled on ok yesterday, its run far better than Star Galleria.

Guest CrossCodes
Quite possibly looking at the weakest cup field we have seen in years, the Aussie raiders might look our cup class horses look silly if they come over.

Favorite no, but right him off at your peril. Still a toss up between him and Chicago Bull come Cup time for me. Class acts at their best. Kakama
Aussies look to be a big chance this year. No doubt we will know more after ashburton stakes. What about other main pace event on day, what a great field

the galah
From my observations the all star team does not currently have the same degree of invincibility that it has had in the past. It has been noticeable in the last couple of months that their runners are more vulnerable than normal, if doing work in the running. They still are no doubt the most feared stable in nz ,but unless something changes again it looks like they cant be driven to run their opposition into the ground like they had previously. So in my opinion it makes for a cup field where a case could be put forward for many runners.
Richie
The All Stars horses build ups to the cup are Generally a long affair. The Machete and the likes will peak on Cup day much like Adore Me did in 2014 and Lazarus in 2016. Average lead up form from Adore Me but had the polish on.I know that Mark thinks Ultimate Machete the best of theirs and yet their other horses have won 3 of the lead up races. Will see a different horse tomorrow. At this stage I won't be backing anything else in the cup

I am sure he will pay more on the tote, dont think it will start fav, star galleria will i reckon. For mine, i just dont think he is going as good as i thought he would. We will know monday arvo. I am sure a purdon runner will win, leaning to eamon mcguire
