Amazing, and good on the owners for perseverance, without horses like old Alexy running around (and there are a fair few) I think we would struggle to get the fields we do in the Otago/Southland region, the likes of chief kapai, machie Mach come to mind as horses that keep bobbing up and winning now and again....I know people turn their noses up at forbury, but they run good sized fields that are competitive at a lowly level... would love to seem them get a decent race there again or a Friday race night....crowds must be crap on a Thursday night..only Auckland and Addington allowed to race Fridays!!

Sort of agree, but those fields last nite where shit, not surprising club is in the crap. Hard to think that a few years back open class pacers and trotters raced there, even had big 4yo race. Now, they constantly have by far the worst fields in the south island

Where else can these low grade horses race competitively  through I'm sure owners and trainers of these horses must be thankful. I used to enjoy that 4yo series forbury had in the 80' some top class animals used to run in it......forbury also had the idoms there at one stage!

Forbury may not always have the highest quality of horse running around, but that does not make the races any less competitive or enjoyable to view. Grass root racing is where the majority operate and i'm sure the connections of those who were successful last night, got just as big a kick out of winning as they would have at addington or anywhere else.
