I remember Big Dave paying $2million for the best colt he had ever seen.....Saperavi=a dud. In those days he could be relied on to buy Pencarrows top yearlings and syndicate them.Had a good thing going. Bromley bloodstock could tell you a few stories about the ups and downs of 'dealing' bloodstock. You have to learn..fast. Proof?

Smart guy, they wanted it to sell at Karaka.😉

Actually more duds than good ones. His best two were bought by Ellis. His first horse was Madame Shinko and he wasn't a majority share holder. I doubt any "breeding expert" would have selected her being out of a Lanfranco mare.

Funny guy.The first investment revved him up.As I said he knew his own limitations and got the experts in when he spent serious money. Guess how many duds BIG Dave has bought. Last ROI I saw had him a huge deficit.

However Coolmore own zero % of the Avantage filly. What was Bromley's ROI?

curious
Hmmm..Coolmore and Dave seem to be very cosy and the former have a long history of "supporting" buyers/agents to pay big money to spruik their their stock. Who was the underbidder?

Now you keep kneeling at your altar of socialism and think bitter thoughts.

Assuming by indirectly you mean the likes of my Imperatriz posts? Are you suggesting we shouldn't comment on the best sprinter in OZ/NZ that happens to be trained by a New Zealander? BTW she was bought at the Magic Millions sale which the likes of @Joe Bloggs attests is a second rate sale. Only 20%? Geez I'll have to try harder. Jokes aside is it all that surprising when they win about 20% of the NZ black type races. BTW what % of your posts are on the same topic? You must have that figure at your fingertips since you appear to be keeping a tally.

Huey
Coolmore bought Avantage from DE, DE buys her first foal . Nothing to see here. By a Stallion that is being hugely spruiked down under, imo unlikely to get the Aus type 2yo that market requires , the toughest area for any Sire to break into the Aus 2yo arena. In the photos she actually looks a bit small and like she will need a bit of time, but I don't have the amazing eye of DE he said she was the only "A" rated filly in the sale. MB & Avantage you can't take their NZ G1 form seriously , be lucky if it translated into an Aus G3. Unlike Imperatriz who has to be the best horse they have ever trained.

I'm guessing they can see a lot of Avantage in her and the target is the Magic Millions in a years time.

Won 5 NZ 2yo races , a huge difference to winning decent 2yo races in Aus. by a Sire not generally known for getting top Aus 2yo types, 2 of his better 2yos did it in the considerably weaker NZ scene (Avantage & Heroic Valour). For any owners sake I hope they can see plenty more that just the mother in her at that price.
