Well, this seems to be going nowhere....but -   If young Beau was, in fact, riding an ex-racehorse, it was small, unbranded, and effing slow.  A racing T/B would have been a hundred yards in front of a bunch of ponies after four strides, not a few lengths ahead at the end.
