Chief Stipe
It was ladies’ day at Morphettville on Saturday, with female jockeys taking out each of the nine races. Kayla Crowther and Caitlin Jones kick-started proceedings, scoring respectively on Nicish ($3.70) and Jenkins ($6.80), both trained by Phillip Stokes. Jenkins was back and in danger of being held up in the straight, but Jones found a tiny gap to keep her mount’s momentum, taking the gelding from last to first for a great win. Alana Livesey scored aboard Sarah Rutten’s Easy Campese ($1.70) in the next event, before Rochelle Milnes rode a running double on a pair of Michael Hickmott runners, Storyteller ($3.70) and Exalted Fire ($5.20). Crowther produced a peach aboard the Clarken/O’Shea-trained Episodic ($8.10) to clinch her second win, while Livesey followed suit on Richard and Chantelle Jolly’s Keep Reading ($6.70) in the next. Maggie Collett took Oopy MacGillivray and Dan Clarken’s Hot Off ($8.50) from go to woah in the penultimate event, but the day’s best story came in the last race, as Felicity Atkinson broke her metropolitan duck with a last-gasp win on Chris Bieg’s Peacemaker ($21). Atkinson was ecstatic post-race, delighted to share her first city triumph on a horse who means a great deal to her. “It was great, it’s an unbelievable feeling. Peacemaker is one of my favourites, and I’ve had a lot of success on him,” she said. “It just makes it that little bit more special … Chris has been such a huge support all the way through. “I’ve been really unwell today, and he’s taken it easy on me just to make sure I’m right for today, and it’s all paid off.”

Murray Fish
great result! I have always attempted to be of help to them, its been a long long road, lots of patriarchal prejudice to hurdle along the way!

All The Aces
Hardly an unusual occurrence these days. I note they didn't mention all the races were won by the boys at Flemington the same day.

Perhaps your punting is suffering from a bias as found in the attached paper. Over a 20-year period, the effect of jockey gender on fixed price betting odds was examined in National Hunt racing. Employing censored regression to account for non-finishers we find female jockeys to be underestimated by the UK betting market. Results indicate an increasing trend for underestimation in recent years, despite growing representation and rising performance levels of female jockeys. We conclude that mistake-based discrimination and confirmation bias may be impacting efficiency in the betting market. The market might recognise some improvement in female performance but may be failing to adapt at the speed with which female jockeys are professionalising. 1-s2.0-S0167268122002864-main.pdf

Nothing wrong with my riding record, squire. Ridden some very nice fillies both on and off the track. Regarding woman jockeys, they weren't a threat in my day as the males were dominant... and better but I did enjoy riding against them as they made good (bunny) pacemakers in staying races !

A legend in your own lunchtime. But you'd struggle now as the average female jockey would be better than you. Of course no one would comment on your attractiveness or use that as a criteria for asking you to ride their horse.

Well, if you look at the girls arm on the right, most would ask the question, she looks like a tall version of popeye. Mind you, maybe you like the German butch wrestling type…. So maybe in your eyes she is feminine… cute chief

These women just cleaned up the card at Morphettville. Give them some credit rather than denigrating them. Why does their success scare you? They certainly diminish @billy connolly 's limited achievements on horseback and yours.

As I mentioned I believe it has been done a few times in NZ which isn't any surprise and of course doesn't even rate a mention here. Just with regard to Morphetville last Saturday I am not surprised that the female riders rode the card either. Just for some perspective 100 horses started with 58 of them ridden by the girls and 42 by the boys. 9 of the 6 winners were favourites. In this day and age why are we even comparing the male and female riders. They compete on equal footing as far as I am concerned and we should treat them equally as jockeys rather than comparing them by sex. Have you noticed there are more and more female riders coming though and the rarity could soon be having the card won by male riders.

Yet we still seem to have a long way to go when you see the sexist rubbish and bias posted by a few old males on here. If you read the paper I posted it seems that this bias is reflected in the value that punters place on a horses chance.
