Doomed
Does anyone know if there is a reason for no northern meetings this weekend? Nothing Friday, Saturday or Sunday. AWT meeting at Cambridge with tiny fields this Wednesday then nothing until Matamata next Wednesday. Then a trip way up to Ruakaka for a Saturday, then nothing until a low key Matamata Friday meeting on the 13th. Seems strange programming as we head into Spring. I can't imagine Sydney or Melbourne deciding to have a Friday, Saturday, Sunday off at this time of year, or any weekend really. Is it a sign there are just very few horses about in the north or is it some clever new approach being trialed? Poor southern jockeys will probably miss out again, probably be a dozen northern jockeys fly down to Riccarton at great expense.

Maybe time for another Ruakaka meeting CS, perhaps an extra meeting at Ruakaka , keep racing fans on the edges on their seats!

Saturday week @Huey gives you a chance to dig for oil. I'll send some tips and advice on how to maximise your enjoyment. Or will you be watching the guns go round at Hastings? The Centaur
50 years ago to the day Avondale raced Saturday with quite a high profile meeting. Cattle King won the main race recording 5th win in a row. March Legend won the 2yo race which would have been the first 2yo race for the season. Shaitan won a maiden. Royal Vega ran second in a race just wondering if that horse was trained by Allen Baker now based in Levin.
