Chief Stipe
It's official @Huey there is something wrong with you. The ATR CEO Paul Wilcox said so. Basically he said if you weren't excited about Champions Day at Ellerslie - "there is something wrong with you"! 1

I'm certainly interested in watching alot of the races on the programme, just not the slot race it's a fizzer & they will overhype it beyond what it's actually capable of delivering. Any race that needs $$$ as the prime interest factor has little value in my view.

Exactly.........,.Derby , Cup , Group 1's , Aussie horses , Aussie jockeys ......gotta be the best day of your life ! Best 'value' definitely looks to be a ticket in the BGP room where you can mix with racing people from all over NZ.....sure the price gone up to $195 in past week but with lunch , a few drinks , comfortable surroundings with the added twist of winning some Cash in the picking contest . Pick one horse in each race and the most points earned picks up $10 k Cash, $2500 for second and $2500 Bonus bet for 3rd. Plenty of stuff happening over the weekend to make it memorable ! The price seems very comparable to many of the popular hospitality spots at Wingatui today....in a tent at ground level , some cheap champagne and a snack for $250 per head ! Special Agent
Who would want to run a busy racing club with all those KPI's, expectations and having to continually come up with new ideas each meeting to get different crowds on track so that you keep your job? Nah , just another fun element to get people on course.......otherwise we'd all just stay at home and watch the tele and look for faults in the presenters and revert to the keyboard. Expecting folk to pay over $200 for 15 min of horses running in a circle while spending over 10 hours out and about just doesn't cut it ,even with a bit of music to look forward to ! Years of watching boring horse races causes anti- social behaviour , cynicism and severe depression leading people to revert to anonymous abuse on-line......in other words it ducks ya !

SLB2.0
I think the Kiwi has stirred up conversation among the racing community, but I can't imagine average Joe Bloggs knows anything about it. And this would be the least build-up I've ever seen to the Derby, but after looking at the field, I'm not surprised. However, combined with Aus racing, I'm looking forward to the quality racing on Sat.

Great opportunity to get that Golden Ticket for some serious money too now which he probably wouldn't manage in Oz.
Huey
outside of the 2yo race and the Breeders Stakes its a pretty disappointing programme given the hype and $$ thrown at it.

Bollocks. When was the last time there was a better race meeting in NZ other than Karaka Millions night? Most of the news agent outlets for the RaceForm were sold out within an hour.

That's your opinion. As for hyping things up I thought the total was $8.25m NOT $9m. $3.5m is Raffle money is it not? At the end of the day that money will be distributed to a lot of owners. An interesting statistic will be how many owners will be rewarded at the end of the day.

Gammalite
Nice win Chief !! Te Akau strike again.🏆💰 Tiz great thing, as they have bucketloads of owners don't they ? Gets a bit boring with Goldolphin Billionaire Shiehk and Yulong Billionaire Asian dude, or chicken King progeny owners winning in Oz feature races all the time 🙄. 1

SLB2.0
Good to see Willydoit win the Derby as well. Jockey loyalty means nothing when you win a Derby, and the positive ride got it done.
Gammalite
Well Te Akau no good in Oz with Captured By Love sadly Chief. Mr Zhang and his Yu Long colours flying out in front by lengths . with Treasure The Moment. It's quite a horse that one. is gunna win heaps. Very impressive wins lately. you'd think Yu Long would be happy with Via Sistina winning everything? lol 😅. paid 10 million for her so I guess she should win something lol. At least Magic Time got beat into 3rd just now . Yu Long winning quite enough already 😎 . Godolphin Shiehk took out the ALL STAR MILE. off course no happy owners bouncing around trackside there either, with Tom Kitten . the pussycat getting the win today for the Blue army. no one to film all excited though 😋 They did find the neutral ambassador lady (covered in tattoo's) to interview though. She had won $100,000 , from drawing the 'Kitten' in the 'draw of horses for the Mile. she was quite funny lady. Gunna buy herself a race horse now. Do you think she knows how much they pay for these things ???🤣😂 she's in for quite a shock I think.

In your rush tomput a negative spin on everything NZ Racing you don't seem to understand the concept. But I guess it NZ's first galloping slot race...Big Dave was the slot holder for the Te Akau synd horse ,therefore he was the 'owner' for that race...hence he the winning owner as well as running the syndicate that owns the horse ! He seems to be a huge contributor to NZ racing !
