Don't You Feel Sorry For

Don't you feel sorry for Bruce Wallbank who owns and trains Midnight Edition who dead heated for first in the Auckland Guineas at Ellerslie today only to lose the race in the enquiry room.

I thought it was a tough decision against Bruce who trains just the one horse and has had a horses to the races only 23 times beginning in the 2008/9 season but I guess the big boys weren't happy to share the stakes win and put in a protest and I guess we all knew how that was going to end up.

Tough luck Bruce. Your horse went a great race.

The tighter the margin, the easier it is for articulate people to put forward their case. In my opinion regardless of who puts up the protest (Steward, jockey or trainer) it should only be the jockeys of the horses involved in the enquiry who should be in the room with the stewards

Following this race, connections of the first equal runner YALDI lodged a protest alleging interference in the final

straight against the first equal placed horse MIDNIGHT EDITION. After considering submissions the Adjudicative Committee upheld the protest with amended placings being 1 st YALDI, 2nd MIDNIGHT EDITION, 3rd CHECKMATE, 4th SUIT YOURSELF.

In post-race Trackside coverage, the photo finish footage shown included coverage from the inside camera which was not correctly aligned. The result of the race was judged off the outside camera which is located in a permanent mount inside the Judge’s box. Steward’s concerns regarding the inside camera not being correctly aligned were raised with Club Officials for follow up.

Even if the Jockey is an apprentice?  There is just as much variance in the speaking ability of Jockeys as there is any other participant.

Having others such as Trainers and Stewards speaking actually evens things up.

There is always exceptions so no, apprentices should be able to have 'their' trainer with them but that is not necessarily the trainer of the horse they were riding. Enquiries would be a lot more straight forward without trainers biased input

Why does it matter?

Because it mirrors the FAKE NEWS Pukekohe result where the time keeper couldn't find a 1000th of a sec margin

Yet the 'Judge' found 100th/sec 0.01 to the 'winner' over the '2nd' horse and an incredible 0.2L margin where a "pencil thin" nose is 0.1Length

Made up FAKE NEWS by the 'Judge' every which way

Have you rang Craig yet Chief?

As you'd know Chief, it's important to have STANDARDS of behaviour and a 'gambling' industry HAS to have THE highest of any

Just making up stuff and having 'Judges' finding 0.2L where none exists can't be tolerated

Maybe that's how the Righteous Right Roll though??

What difference does it make unless you suffer from OCD?

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?

The odds are the same if the interference was clear.  You are also assuming, like @Wingman that Cartwright and McNab didn't have much to say.  I'm sure it will be easier to argue a case when the head-on view is released.

I said no such thing. McNab and Cartwright both defended their positions, The former saying 'Would have won' the latter saying he thought the 'brush' helped lift McNabs horse hence his argument that it had not affected the result. The stewards did not agree but would they have been so sure without convincing arguments from a well spoken trainer
