Brodie
Seriously, Cambridge is running a meeting next Monday on Anniversary day for them! What is happening with racing in the North Island? This meeting is being run with only 5 RACES???? 2 races has 6 starters so turnover will be terribly low once again and these meetings in the north continue to lose money. Harness is in very serious trouble in the north and yet some some in the industry are saying things are positive??? Does anyone know what is happening with the sale of Franklin track as it has gone very quiet once again after the ATC came out very excited a couple of months ago? The interest will continue to climb! Edited January 23 by Brodie 1
Nowornever
Terrible fields and will not be having a bet. Tonight the fields are not much better up there with the pacers final the only race worth betting into.
Withadream2
Probably should have combined the two meetings into one

We were constantly told that was a great success for auckland,so if that was actually true, then why not replicate it for cambridge?lol. Or introduce some 2 yr old races with some decent bonuses to get Northern peoples excited .......touche ! 'You ideas folk , the true trendsetters of Harness spend too much time and effort propheticating on the ills of Harness ,especially Northern Harness when the real BIG issue is the alarming lack of horses in the North. Come up with a plan to help fix this ...more owners , more foals born , more starts per horse . THe higher stakes have created a lot of interest , less horses were sold /exported last year and the 2 yr old bonuses and Next Gen plans are in place it just gunna take a while to rebuild interest and replenish stocks even if at all possible ! TAB, the stake money holding up is great obviously but it ks only for a limited time and the intelligent are aware of this. Great work by syndicators to get people in for small shares but that is probably the way it will stay, with most sticking to small shares and they have as much fun that way. Unfortunately the cost of ownership nowadays just does not make it economically viable to own a racehorse with the cost of living in NZ. We just have to realise that things will never be the way they were in harness racing heyday.

Of course everyone thinks their ideas are good, but some of us,myself included ,have given different ideas hundreds of times,on how to future proof the sport, over the years when posting on here. I know i've put forward so many ideas of how to address and promote specific issues and specific regions, including your favorite region auckland.Did you miss all that,as there was some really good thoughts posted in the past,in my opinion. Reality is,after a while, people actually get tired of posting positive ideas to the level they once did, because they have woken to the reality, that they are only creating social media chatter with no concrete impact on anything,as people in power take little notice,so then they move on to a different phase ,and its in that phase that they analyse not only the impact of what decisions are being made, but also who is making the decsions. Then they start commenting on that.Previous life experiences is a factor in how ones thinking has evolved.Using those steps ,i've found,is the best way to see the big picture. anyway, like i've said before, you start with a vision of where you hope the industry is in 10/15 years from now and you develop a realsitic,believable/sellable,fiscally sustainable plan, then you take the steps to start you on that journey. In my opinion, from my life experiences, what you don't do is cater to special interest groups, you bring everyone on that journey as without everyone, your business is not as strong and you also get division. What you don't do is take a patchwork type approach to problem solving as issues pop up,instead you address the root causes. I'm also a believer in "never let a good crisis go to waste".Thats my thinking around auckland and where next to for them. And of course they have a future, just not in the shape of the future being sold by the atc and hrnz. And also,i'm a believer that administrators can come in more than one category. You have those that will stick around and make plans and decisions which will be based and how they want to be judged in 10 years time, then you have those who come into a job,and see that job as a stepping stone to another in 5 years. They are the ones who apply the patchwork problem solving approach. Edited January 25 by the galah
Brodie
32 horses going around today, which is not flash! when the no s came out it mustve been touch snd go whether they ran the meeting and now with 32 horses over 5 races is going to be a waste of time for most. Yes owners get stake money easily but not a good sign for the future.

My life experiences tell me that influential decision makers are not going to take too much notice of us keyboard warriors ,even if they read entire posts. The above one would put many to sleep ! And the latest one about feet from sulky seems much ado about nothing and an attempt to compare an Aussie apple with a Kiwi tomato !

Like, give up counting sheep or 2 yld bonuses,to fall asleep and bring up bit of a yarn on your phone when you jump in your bed.It works for me ,my head hits the pillow as soon as i read something you've posted. 20 minutes ago, TAB For Ever said: And the latest one about feet from sulky seems much ado about nothing and an attempt to compare an Aussie apple with a Kiwi tomato ! i've always been a tomato man myself.I have at least one a day. They are known to be good for your skin, hair and nails. Given i can just picture you pulling out your hair and bitiing your nails each time you read a post from the galah,i would say to you ,embrace the tomato. Remember the old saying ,a tomato a day keeps the keyboard warriors away...or something like that. They're not going to be of the standard of when Mark and Blair and Tim are driving , so don't feel too harsh on them. Wilson and Crystal doing very well today. Race 8 coming up has 6 young lady drivers, up against Zev , HarrisonO and Wilson in the 9 horse field. should be good. see if the lads can handle the femme fatales 😂🤣

Just the general standard of racing today as well as driving….i had a feeling in that race, Boudica was my bet of the day, but only had 20% of my bet ew, certainty beaten. Leader just walked, no gaps in straight flew down outside

Young 22 yearold Zev Meredith takes the Stratford Cup driving on a Roughie though , after that appalling standing start 2 attempts. Barbarossa winning for trainer Ben Butcher (still not driving recovering from injury) Zev having a great run 👍🏆🏆 , having trained a GROUP 1 Winner last month. A fantastic effort by a young bloke to win a 100k race. One More Moment winning the Queen of Diamonds trot . he only trains 4 horses so a good strike rate lol. I hate it when I like a nag, think it’s value, but have to take into consideration how badly others can drive….Harrison should have peeled out earlier, if it was outside leader turning for home it wins…. Everyone Doesn't get a chance they deserve and luck plays too big a role. . 10 horses fields are BEST, and mostly everyone has a say at some stage. The smaller field at Addington in race 1 just gone was much better , and all the runners got a chance. Tell ya what though. Give HarrisonO another chance in the Feature Trot in half an hour. and with Crystal and WilsonH . take a trifecta . they're running hot. (Zev has Boss Kenny he trains in there too) race 9 = Bevron x Sans Au Revoir x High Energy . $6 to box tri
Gammalite
Crystal - Zev and Harrison Orange with the Trifecta there in race 8 now completed at Hawera too. good value too. They're having a good day . I took wilson-zev-harrison so left that fav out , but Kourtney Kardash far too good. It looked a class runner but thought it would get caught parked out lol. Crystal too quick off the mark for them . Wonder if she can make it 4 wins for the day on a Purdon trotter next Up ? . Sure to go close.
