The programming and how the money that the ENTAIN funding provides is spent has very little to do with ENTAIN if anything.

The ENTAIN funding goes to TABNZ, a separate statutory entity that decides how the funding is split between the racing codes and sports.

The racing codes decide their own programming and stakes allocation per race.  They consult with TABNZ.

If the money is being wasted in your opinion then you should direct your focus to the code management and TABNZ.

Surely though Entain will be involved with the TAB decisions?

What TAB NZ need to advise us all as what their discussions with Entain have resolved in regards what is happening at the end of the Hollymoon Period of 5 years!

At the end of the Cash Splash for the majority share of the NZ TAB for another 20 years, what is the further funding for racing, racing needs to know!

That way many will need to look at opportunities away from racing, as stake money will be hammered.

We are hearing next to nothing from all of them.

TABNZ know exactly what the state of play is as do the code management.  At the end of the 5 years ENTAIN splits the profit 50/50 with racing AND sports.

Chief, i appreciate that, but where do you see stake money going if Entain is not putting in all this extra that they currently are?

Is the TAB going to be making enough off Sports and Racing to ensure that stake money is not heavily reduced?

If stake money does get reduced, then there will be even less owners and horses racing, as it will become just too hard for owners and trainers to survive.

It seems like a false economy at the moment and the fact that the White Knight has come along for 5 years does not change the situation that we had prior!

At the end of the day what has changed apart from bigger stakes temporarily

You've just answered your own question.

yes,but knowing the state of play and implementing policies that are maximising funds received, for the betterment of harness racing, are two totally different things.

You know, they should have one of those surveys or polls, where they ask specific things of industry participants. And i mean participants at all levels, not just those that have the ear of hrnz leadership.

Like,do you have confidence in leaderships decision making ,to help you maintain your level of participation,,do you see yourself having a  greater  or lower level of participation in 2,5,10 years,do you believe hrnz funds are being distributed in a way that is helping or hurting participation numbers,do you feel worried about the future ability of people to make a living from the sport,do you believe industry participants over 30 get the same amount of support from HRNZ as those under 30, do you believe HRNZ funds should be used to prop up auckland racing,a multiple choice question where they ask, rank in order, where you think hrnz should be distributing stake money, etc, etc, etc

I think we all know,if that survey was done today, the results would paint a very bleak of how most currently view the state of the industry.

I'm sure it would also paint a picture of disconnect between certain industry sectors and regions.

6 noms for a rating 70+ at Addington for 25000 as opposed to 70000 for 6 2yo fillies at Winton, you may not boost numbers for the 2yos but by altering the handicapping to have more floating around in the higher ratings for the pacers is one way of maximizing returns, many can always relate to the top aged horses which creates more interest.
