jess Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:16 AM What's the hold up? This may or may not be accurate - but I am hearing the report's been completed but just not released. If that is correct - why has it not been released? Was it never intended for public consumption? Is it not good news? Is the release still being worked up by the Corporate Communications Team? Are the track team trying to complete some remediation work ahead of its release so it can be said some of the issues identified have already been rectified? Speculation isn't always helpful, I know - but when there's an information vacuum - it does tend to thrive. I suggest some information would be welcomed by the stakeholders in the CD - especially given the first race on it is scheduled for 25 May - less than 2 weeks away now .... Chief Stipe Posted yesterday at 01:23 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:23 AM I imagine that Hawkes Bay Racing Club members have to be consulted before release to the general public. No doubt funding is required.

Chief Stipe Posted yesterday at 01:45 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:45 AM Woops I was thinking of a different report! Anyway the Synthetic report will be quite simple won't it. The AWT's need regular maintenance and it wasn't happening. All the @Transparency aka Wightman BS about composition and depth and being sold a pup is irrelevant. Also wrong. Murray Fish Posted yesterday at 01:45 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:45 AM Talking this subject matter, among the many interesting chats I had on our two meeting road trip, must have spoken to way over 50, 40 for the first time! of which 15 were meeting M Fish for first time. One person was discussed the way a senior rider was treated when they attempted to raise issues about the track safety, meaning further related problems happen until action was started! they also had some serious sad news about a retired jockey! Chief Stipe Posted yesterday at 01:46 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:46 AM So maintenance being the issue no doubt NZTR and RACE are getting the finance and the resourcing lined up to address it BEFORE the report comes out.

I can't answer your question as to where it is. However I have it first hand from Chris Rogers (author) at Massey that it was sent to NZTR March 20th. That was confirmed by NZTR when I requested a copy saying they "will be communicating the results in the coming days/weeks".

I'd hate to see it turned into a "told you so" and a source of a witch hunt. The biggest issue I see is if the maintenance was so poor that the poly material has been damaged i.e. separation of components, wax and fibre degradation. That might be expensive. jess Posted yesterday at 02:08 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 02:08 AM Separate (but related - being another Central District track) - things have gone very quiet about the Otaki track- in particular - how it was damaged & by whom. I think it's pretty well accepted what damage was incurred & how. The "by whom" bit seems to fall into 2 distinct camps. The initial thoughts seemed to be that it could relate to animal rights activism. However there is talk of it being the work of a totally different group of perpetrators. And in some regards - the second situation is more disturbing - with it going to the heart of the matter - being the future use of this piece of land as a race track at all. No wonder some owners are starting to move their horses out of the region. Again I wonder - why are those who call themselves leaders in the industry, so tight-lipped? If you were running the show, would you not want to come up with a strategy which assures a future - & then release that plan in order to reassure the stakeholders & maintain their trust, confidence & support? Or - is there another possibility? Does it actually suit the powers that be, to stand by - hands free - bearing witness while things descend into a situation where a number of these venues simply become untenable .... Now good people of BOAY - when the conspiracy theorist within starts to mumble - I do try hard to put him back in his box. He's not welcome & I really don't care to hear his voice. But more & more often - I find myself analysing actions/inactions - & having to put them down to a choice of 2 things. Either glaring ineptitude/lack of a cogent strategy - or an ulterior motive & undeclared agenda. Again - it's that information vacuum where speculation gets a free rein & can easily bolt .... That's exactly right. Information - even if not particularly welcome - can put the speculation to rest. But the deafening silence just leads to more and more rabbit-holes to visit....

jess Posted yesterday at 02:21 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 02:21 AM Excellent news, Doomed - and I would happily join you in this crusade - if only, pray tell, - someone would communicate said cunning plan. If only that would happen - like Black Adder - I will be first in line to pin a tail on it & call it a weasel 😝

In the Trade Union movement we call this "leadership by controlling the narrative, especially by controlling directions of discussion around any of the 'real' issues at the core of the problem!" = Procedural Politics! Usually found when there is a slow but steady historical decline.... more and more crisis's appear, they just keep a coming.. now where is that cool aid! jess Posted yesterday at 04:26 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 04:26 AM Hot off the press ... and really no surprise. How can anyone have confidence in the track in the face of ongoing rumors/speculation about its safety- & a lack of response from the authorities - when Curious tells us the report they commissioned has been out for nearly 2 months - and the only response is deafening silence .... If it was the issue they have led the industry to believe it was they'd be trumpeting to all and sundry what they were doing about it. Too much convenience in this one. We are still waiting to here the outcome of the trainers meeting, we are still waiting to here the outcome of the reports re Awapuni, we have no idea just how not so well racing turnover/profit has been oct to March.
