Special Agent Posted Friday at 05:14 AM Posted Friday at 05:14 AM I don't think NZTR could ever put a meeting off again using visibility as an excuse after letting Cambridge go ahead mid-week. 2 Quote

I do recall somewhere in the dark recesses of my memory that at least one meeting was cancelled because the car park was flooded. 1 Quote

mikeynz Posted Friday at 08:00 AM Posted Friday at 08:00 AM I guess if Timaru don't go on Sunday then there is Oamaru next week, I think it's a urban myth about Oamaru and Timaru being better winter tracks, winter is winter, it can be hit or miss, Oamaru generally has a dry climate but seems when the gallops are on it invites rain. curious Posted Saturday at 01:01 AM Author Posted Saturday at 01:01 AM The Timaru track was inspected by the Timaru track manager, NZTR regional track manager and a representative of the RIB around midday Saturday 7 June. The track is sodden after significant rain over the past seven and there is an area near the 1100m where water has pooled. There is likely to be some further rain prior to Race 1. As a result tomorrow’s meeting has been postponed on the recommendation of this group. NZTR and the club will now look at any option in terms of a possible reschedule. An update will be communicated tomorrow, Sunday. Quote

curious Posted Saturday at 09:41 PM Author Posted Saturday at 09:41 PM Due to the particularly heavy track at Timaru, the need to mitigate barrier movements and the early start time the two trials originally scheduled prior to Race 1 have been cancelled. Quote

Mustang Kenny Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Will have a dramatic impact on either Timaru or Oamaru fields this coming Sunday. Surely common sense would say postpone Oamaru until the following Thursday. No meeting in NZ that day and it would enable many horses to back up that will not otherwise back up 4 days later after very hard runs at Timaru. I have phoned that suggestion through to NZTR but got no joy Quote

The talk at the track this morning in unrelenting rain was that it had to be wetter than Sunday if they were getting what we were..and the general consensus is that they would have to be off. Quote

No rain out here to speak of and none in Timaru according to the met service. 1 Quote
