can anyone tell me what the point is of the tab having a futures market on the nz cup.

And why do the harness media continually talk about the market ,then in the next breath state the obvious, that only an absolute moron would bet on the futures market anyway.

here we are about 3 weeeks out from the nz cup and the tab prices are  pathetically small for all the runners and now, given the latest news story on the hrnz website,it seems a horse who has never been ever considered a possible starter,(kingman) may well be allowed to throw in a late nomination and would most likely start favorite if he does.

i mean, its humourous in a way,but ridiculous to the extreme.

isn't it about time the tab stopped ripping off the dumb and the nz racing media stopped talking about odds that their audience know are just a load of rubbish.

I wonder how much the late nomination is.  Hopefully it’s at least $50k

I think you've been reading my comments, I've questioned the point for some time, yet one old stick in the mud elsewhere told me I was a idiot for questioning it, it's simply a con, where people silly enough to gamble on if or not a horse even makes the final field throw their money away, if ya horse dont start you should get ya dosh back, Simply the only talk at present on the NZ Cup should be the horses, not the odds, probably 95% of bets probably in the last half hour so what is the hurry?

$28,750 is the late nomination fee.  Personally I think it should be $50k to encourage trainers of top horses to nominate early.  It’s a million dollar race after all.

Looked a the thoroughbred version, thought the odds were very poor, unless you were planning on taking those that won't even get a start, I'm sure the odds on the tote be better on the day, they'll have to be much more brave to temp me.

as you know, i'm an absolute moron as often bet on the NZ Cup futures market , in my multi's.

The TAB has to have a market for it because how could they possibly list the race with out putting odds there with it ? the TAB are all for Betting . that's what they do. If you just want a list of possible candidates then you could just go to the HRNZ website and find the field of nominations I spose.

Betting is just a bit of fun . None of the blokes here (or that would BET into a future market ) need the money.

Brodie wants to put 1000 on some obscure horses in the bush , so why not have a heap of Punters investing on future markets for a bit of fun ( risking just a few dollars )???

I had AKUTA running for 9000 win 2 years ago, made up of $300 of multi's I had taken during the year with Imperatriz and assorted other fine horses. Swayzee blasted my tickets to confetti, but I didn't feel like an absolute moron.  lol. just one of those things. I lost about $30 worth of bets on Leap To Fame last year . Didn't turn up as got sick in the end. who cares. It's just a bit of interest in the race mateys .

I've taken a few in the DOMINION trot already . as Like some of the trotters. OscarB at 7's and that in some multi;'s, etc. If he doesn't win , at least he's sure to give me a run for my money.

The Brownlow Medal was announced in Australia recently for the AFL . I take a few players with a few bucks for FUN each year. Before and during the season in Future Markets. The winner Matt Rowell started $12 on the day but I had some tickets on him ( as is a great Gold Coast player) at the beginning of season (6 months from event) at 20-1 so collected a couple of hundred.

Future Markets are great for an Interest in the sport , and tracking your Bets progress. It's ALL FUN.

sorry for me being an 'absolute moron' 😧🙄. probably wasn't trained well enough lol 😎

can't say i knew that you invest on the nz cup futures market.

I'm truly surprised anyone does given the odds of the horses are so significantly shorter than you would get for 100% of them on the day of the races.

And your  betting into that market  with no idea what your selection is drawn and in several instances little idea whether the horse will even start or what the opposition is..

then throw in you have been betting under the assumption a horse, who may well start favorite if it comes,(kingman),was not a possible starter and now knowing it had not even been  in the market until this week.

with so many factors working against anyone considering having a bet in the nz cup futures market,i assumed, obviously wrongly, that only a moron would have such a bet. Obviously your not a moron.

So i will reword my comment based on what you've said. I have to be honest ,so now say, smart people obviously do  bet into that market, but i think the bet,not the person,is stupid.
