Flew home in the KiwiB this time last year over 1500m. The 2nd horse in that race Evaporate has won two Grp 3 races in OZ since. 2 months earlier she won the KM over 1600m. 1 Quote

Shab Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Got the 6 bucks plus and nearly got the win. Who says barrier draws don’t matter Quote

Who says barrier draws don’t matter Yeah when it got to $6 I took it just as I said I would. Just before I heard the commentators say that she had drifted because the pattern of racing today would suit her! Top effort when you look at the run. I can hear the knockers knocking but she will win a decent race. If I was an owner of the horse I'd be happy. The residual value keeps getting better. 1 Quote
Newmarket Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago Ran home ok, better than last few starts, but still not winning with a good ride. As i mentioned, Philia was the one in that race, gap a bit earlier and Rose would have got windburn. No worries, will get my money back on it, but cant see Rose getting a weaker field for awhile. Chief Stipe Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Ran home in 33.1 for the 600m. Two sub 11 sectionals. Damask Rose ran the last 600m quicker than the Grp 1 All Star Mile. They ran home in 1.7 seconds slower and none of them broke 11 seconds. 2 Quote

Soft track and better barrier would have won but wouldn’t pay as much. Philia a good horse as well and I think you’re right will win more 1 Quote

Last 600m sectionals come out and comparing times? Maybe can you tell the horse to run home quicker… then it will win races😁 Quote

Get over whatever it was in racing that pissed you off it is destroying your enjoyment of your twilight years. I gather it was you that started the fake news about Te Akau leaving Cranbourne. Lmao, even a fool like me could tip a winner over you. You continue to look sillier and sillier by the day, bring out the book of excuses quickly! Quote

Why don't you line up for your nightly tot of rum and let the rest of us enjoy racing.?! Once again a good horse beaten by the track. Inside was the place to be all day today at Flemington. Quote
Chief Stipe Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Here's another stat for the negative types - Damask Rose ran her last 600m in the same time as the winner of the Newmarket. She broke 1:21 for the last 1400m and only 0.11 slower for the 1200m Newmarket! @Newmarket and @Huey Quote

I never said the horse was not good, i just said it is battling in Aus against stronger company compared to NZ horses. Only have to look at the Aussie raiders that come over and make our stayers look 2nd rate, like today. Another example of a horse battling in Aus is Leica Lucy, really thought once over ground in Aus it would win some good races, but it was disappointing again today. So dont take it to heart, its just my opinion, and of course i would love to own it. 1 Quote

Since she has been in Aus, only her first start, the Aus Oaks was over distance, every other race has been 1400-1600m, like today. Same situation with Willydoit, never once raced in Aus past 1600m, yet established himself in NZ as a quality stayer Quote

hesi Posted 29 minutes ago Posted 29 minutes ago If she can break 1.21 for 1400m, she is a sprinter Quote
Chief Stipe Posted 10 minutes ago Posted 10 minutes ago 14 minutes ago, hesi said: If she can break 1.21 for 1400m, she is a sprinter No a spinter/miler. The fact that she ran those sectional times (not from a standing start) shows she is good enough to pick up a good Grp race in OZ. We see the stars winning them back to back but there are plenty of options to place a horse well in OZ. Quote
