Brodie Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 I note that Murray Howard driving the horse he trains was yesterday hammered with a $500 fine! He was fine for using his whip outside the whip regulation rule which I note they have once again renamed the offence!!!! Murray drives very infrequently and was heavily fined $500 for driving his horse to win! Gow dare he want to win a race by driving his horse out? If you watch the replay of race 5 At Waikouaiti Club that raced at Oamaru, it does not appear to have been an overly aggressive whip action from Murray Howard but yes over the last 400metres would’ve been more than 10. However, Murray did not whip the horse continuously at all, there was a long pause halfway up,the straight and then again when he felt he had a chance to actually win! What the eff was he meant to do, just sit there without using the whip? Yes the normal anti whip conglomerate will come on and say that he broke the rule! The reality is that most know that the rule is blatantly stupid and needs to go!!! Murray Howard, a very infrequent Driver has had a major part of his weekly income taken off him by HRNZ for trying to win a race and where he was overly vigorous on his own horse!!!!! Ridiculous HRNZ, Change the rule as you know you stuffed up majorly when you rushed it through without a great lot of thought or support!!! 1 2 Quote

I watched the replay and Mr Howard deserved what he got, in fact I think the fine should have been double. 1 1 Quote

If someone did strike his horse say 12 times and nothing was done all hell would break loose on here about how hopeless the RIU are for not being consistant. I'm thinking M Howard may have a previous charge or possibly asked for fine over suspension. Greg 1 Quote
Roman Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 How come Matt Anderson wasn't fined for his drive on Letsspendanighttogetha many a whip in his drive Quote

Next time she should get a 6 month suspension for not seeing the error of her ways! Edited February 25, 2019 by Brodie 1 1 Quote

Shad Posted February 25, 2019 Posted February 25, 2019 I agree with brodie, didn't think it was over excessive, the wife given me more whip than that, only when I have my leather undies on. 1 3 Quote
Brodie Posted February 25, 2019 Author Posted February 25, 2019 The 2 worst cases were in the NZ Cup by reinswomen and they get fined! Murray Howard a very part time driver and good horseman gets hammered in a maiden race with a poorish stake and gets fined $500. Rasmussen and Manning I think got $1000 in a several thousand dollar group 1 race? Pathetic ill thought out rule, got to go, end of storey! 1 Quote
Brodie Posted February 25, 2019 Author Posted February 25, 2019 (edited) Meant to be several hundred thousand dollar race Edited February 25, 2019 by Brodie Quote

JJ Flash Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Mr Howard is obviously not a quick learner. I see he got 3 months and $500 fine for breaches of same rule less than a month after the fine he originally got. Well done to RIU, that's the consistency we are all looking for. And no, this is not directed to antagonize Brodie or anyone else before you come on and attack me for my opinion Greg 1 Quote

He was fined $500 for the same offence just a few weeks ago, yet in spite of that he does the same thing again. Clearly, a slow learner. He deserved the three months suspension due to being a serial whip flogging offender, but fine should have been $1000. Well done RIU. The next step is to ban whips. 1 Quote
