muzenza365
Thursdays meeting has been canned because a lack of entries. Goodness knows where our industry is heading,as in perfect weather, good surface and not enough horses to fill the fields.
Chief Stipe
MEETING NEWS Avondale Races Cancelled – 7 March The Avondale races on Thursday have been cancelled due to a lack of entries. There are final races to be added to Matamata and Te Aroha meetings for next week. They will be communicated later this morning. If the numbers are sufficient at Matatmata and Te Aroha NZTR will also look to divide a race at these meetings.

Reefton
Trentham is hardly overrun with numbers for Saturday either and while Auckland has fair noms the man working out the ballots won't be over busy
Thomass
You'd have noted they schedule @ 2 Northern meetings a week in February and hope by March the dryness cures...where they do 3 This was done months ago of course...and if the Georgus Rennae can't predict 10 days in advance.. htf could NZTR do 6 months? Weve usually had at least one Tropical by now too...but nothings cooking by the looks However the ALL over tan is looking fab....and joy oh joy the Princess has no tanning lines anymore...and that should be celebrated

The Centaur
The answer is finding a formula for mixing trials and races. For public interested in seeing horses going around trials far more appealing with only 10-15 minute intervals. However there is no publicity or encouragement to attend. Last week Avondale had 25 trial heats surely that was the day to attend. Dates for trials could correspond with racing both here and Australia so give oncourse patrons something to bet on.. Just needs someone thinking outside the square.

And I might add, get off your butts and do the necessary homework. You've been piloting one race per meeting programmed on this basis for years.
Chief Stipe
Is the tiered stakes BS skewing this even further? Why race on Thursday if 2 days later you race for so much more?

Exactly even the stakes out and get more even participation and more tote revenue. No let's just party on Saturday.
Newmarket
Might be a good thing if you listen to mardigras. Turnover means nothing, so best option is not to get prople punting on nags. Just concentrate on sport.

But with Newmarket, you have to keep things very simple and never look at the full picture. Things like revenue are best keep out of any discussion he is involved in.
