Brodie
Will be very interesting to see how many North Island trainers send their horses down for the Jewels, knowing that they have got next to no chance of winning if they are competing against the said Stable with 2 or 3 runners? All starters get a few thousand dollars just for lining up which is good, but is it worth the risk, when they could probably earn more money racing at Auckland! Yes I know it is flippen negative, Brodie just asking the question and telling it the way he sees it! Hopefully the Jewels is not dominated, but then we know that they will be, as Addington over 1980m is going to suit them more than Cambridge and Ashburton over a mile! Newmarket
I suppose for me, this whole game used to be more about the battling trainer/ driver than the top stables winning the big races. Borana and Armalight at big odds winning the nz cup, both great stories. Pathfinder winning 4yo race, Frees best winning big fillies race, those horses that won, that nowadays would never be competitive? I am sure everyone on this site have their favs, the longshot that won that was given no chance, but everyone loved the story. Happy Asset winning Auck cup, had to be driven for sprint home, Ants did just that. Sadly, we rarely see the battlers winning any big races, well the odd time, but nothing like they used to. 4

Totally agree Newmarket, it's like a bunch of small dairys trying to compete with a major supermarket, the dairys one by one get squeezed out of business. I used to really love the age group races, but apart from the trotters it's now sadly a bit of a bore fest.
Taku Umanga
Yep - there are a few owner/trainers out there with only a couple of young ones left that they hope to get going good enough to sell. Then they'll be leaving the game for good.

Guest CrossCodes
Poor Ray Green. His horses can’t even compete in low grade Alexandra Park races and he is throwing the toys out of the cot because he feels hard done by ??? He hasn’t had a decent horse for ages, and Sir Lincoln has been a dud as a stallion, so he has to throw in the towel like a pathetic bi$&h?
