Father's Day at Forbury

My new mature girlfriend told me to back Silent Shadow at 3.60ff for the place tomorrow.

She was impressed by the way this older gelding came home last time. She reckons he must have been on something as he ran like he was a young stallion again. Could have gone another lap she reckons!

Just what the way she likes it.

It is a bit warm out, so she asked for some suntan lotion. I said 'where is yours'? she said her  tanning lotion is at Brodie's from last summer. Then added Brodie's vigorous beach training does wonders for her figure.

Think I must’ve overtrained her!

Off to Mark’s this week for some blood Spinning!

That was so bad I can only imagine the horse is ill.

The transformation from the Oamaru run to today bore no semblance.  I await the stipes report.

Sheesh did go terrible... anytime you get beaten by Mach O'Melley you know there's something wrong.

Just looking at r5, 7 runners so only 2 place divs and FOUR horses are paying $1.80 or less for a place on fixed odds WTF...

Not trying to stick up for the TAB here, but with the Final Field divvis they pay out on the first three home, opposed to the tote, which will only have 2 place divvis due to the smaller sized field. Having said that, it's still a bit of rip off with the odds quoted.

Some punters are unaware of the Final Field place divvis paying out top 3, even with 7 runners in a field, so thought I would post for the benefit of others.

Thanks for that, is this just a NZ tab thing? Doesn't happen in NSW for sure.

If the NZ tab do this why not in their race results show these dividends so people can see/learn? I've been punting for nearly 25 years and didn't know this rule.

King Cassidy trotted so rough the whole race but got the bacon, paid $5.10 for the place on the tote and $2.30 fixed.

Dead right Dougie, they should really educate the punters more, and they wonder why betting turnover is in decline. I guess their thinking may be that if they did post the results of the final field top three, it may confuse people, as the odds would fluctuate a bit, even though they are fixed at the time of the bet placement. So if they did post the results, it would have to be the odds at the time of tote closure.

I think the NZ TAB changed the three horse payout for final field (or sometimes incorrectly referred to as "fixed odds") when they renamed the betting option "top 3" and dropped the "place" wording.

Not sure if it is just a NZ thing, as Vic don't do it either.

R6 Both Brendan McLellan's horses went forward from the mobile, one normally does but the other Carlo Gambino doesn't, was there an announcement of a change in tactics?

Interestingly he didn't drive any of his 6 horses today and hes not suspended.

McLellan is a nightmare driver.

As I have said previously would be better off sitting in the stand as his horses would be put into the race!!
