Your faith is admirable but misplaced. If you gave powers of discretion to TAB staff then there would be no point in having the system in place full stop.

Totally agree, the so-called system of checking out everyone that wants to gamble $1k is blatantly ridiculous!!!!!

$1k in today’s money, is petty cash.

With the amount of money that the government spends on being big brother, you can’t tell me that they need to keep an eye on every person who wins $1k?.

The Government should have a better idea of who 8s doing crime  and needs to clean money, rather than just joe average that wants a bet!

All those restrictions do not seem to be hurting turnover on fixed odds. (Come in Brodie). Would be interesting to know what the tote turnover was in comparison to last year as well.

From HRNZ

Tuesday – Addington Cup day
A bumper day for Fixed Odds turnover with a Singles-only hold of a tick over $2m.  Last year, including Mulits, the hold was $1.7m and the two years before that we held $1.6m each.  Total turnover, including the tote, was up 1.9%.

someone on trackside said they did a record 6 million in total on cup day
