curious
And I guess we have to first wait and see whether or not there will be a HB spring carnival at least one that looks like the one we know.

Maybe but whether that will be in time to have horses ready for an October HB spring carnival is one question. The other is that knowing how to do it and actually doing it are two different things. There wasn't much sign of that at level 2 and 3 here from what I saw and heard.

They should be lobbying Government with a detailed plan. Better to fail trying!
curious
16 weeks to what? And lobby government for what?
Chief Stipe
16 weeks to get you horse fit. Lobby government to implement the same setup as OZ has for their racing.

But the difference between NZ and OZ, is that horse racing is in the DNA of Aussies. Respective state governments in Australia actually support their racing. Whereas in NZ it is almost like racing has a stigma to it, and if you are a racing supporter, you're looked down upon.

Streaming on line. Since Trackside is on holiday. I noticed they market things differently. For example there are TABCORP ads saying x amount of what you bet with us goes directly back to racing in Australia. Where is our equivalent marketing? Time our industry leadership showed some balls.

Freda
Of course not. But if this crisis doesn't jolt a few synapses into gear and help their owners realise that the whole structure has to change, then more of the same wil produce more of the same.

Do you mean, the govt should throw the Nztab on the open market, pull all its funding and require the Tab to operate as a fully commercial entity, paying levies, licensing, and all associated taxes? What a good idea. I'm not sure, however, that any savvy business would take on the basket case that is NZTAB.

Perhaps the NZTAB could diversify and purchase it.

Nz Tab cant even seem to run their own tab ,so why would they want to fuck another one up as well. 1

Chief Stipe
I was being tongue in cheek. But if they are struggling to sell the WA TAB why would anyone takeover our basket case?

Lets get racing back on free-to-air TV, for example and start to rebuild interest in the codes

The muppets should never have removed trackside off free to air tv. Absolutely ridiculous decision.
holy ravioli
Can gauge TAS ability more realistically now. Not up to top international class, but competitive in most aussie Grp1's.
