Jewels 2018 Plenty Of N.I. And Ozzzies

Just had a very quick look through fields for next weeks Jewels day!

The Thing that stands out like dogs bxxxx other than plenty of AllStars starters, is that there seems to be a heck of a lot of North Island based runners compared to previous years!

What I did say a Few weeks ago was that a lot of South Island quAlified Horses wouldn’t be bothered going up to Cambridge for one race over 1609m, to just make up the numbers to run out of a place and stuff the horse.

What I will do at some stage is count up the number, but I am sure Brodie is correct in that many that could’ve been there aren’t!

I believe that owners and most trainers have woken up to the fact apart from the glory financially it isn’t worth it, and would be better having a saleable horse.

What if it rains heavily next Saturday and the track is a bog, as it is JUne after all?????

Nope. Including the current emergencies, the NI stable representation is exactly at historical Cambridge levels — 41.4%. If none of the emergencies start, it'll actually be a bit lower than usual at 38.2% (6 of the 8 emergencies are from NI stables).

One slightly complicating factor is where the Dunn horses sit. The above numbers count them as SI. Assigning the two that have raced mainly in the NI to the NI changes the percentages to 43.1% and 40.0% respectively. So still nothing in it, in other words.

Basil, I haven’t checked your no.s as busy overseas at the moment, but I will take it that you are right.

I wasn’t counting the AllStars as they were always going to be there in there hoards, but take them  Out and there seems to be a lot of N.I. Horses in there which isn’t surprising.

At the end of the day all things being equal on a good sized track most of them would not compete that well against many of the S.I. Horses that haven’t gone up, due to what I previously said.

Anyway I know you will disagree!

Here are the NI stable representations at Cambridge Jewels days:

2008    36.1%

2010    40.2%

2012    41.0%

2014    42.7%

2016    46.8%

2018    40.0% (assuming all emergencies are scratched)

So actually the lowest NI turnout at Cambridge since 2008, which surprises me a bit too. Still, all the year-to-year variations are well within the margin of error and so probably just random variation.

Yes, one could have a bitch drawing no7 with Majestic Man, and Winterfell the ace.

BUT, and as our leader pointed out, no horse has won from no 7 in the Trotters section but more importantly no one has won from the ace either.

On top of that our horse was kicked in the front leg by one of T Herlihys horses thereby missing a trial. Heres hoping he is alright on the day.

Good times

Thought maybe habibti inti could knock off einheign.

Most races favs look home, but I bet we have a few big div placing.

Good luck Globe, and all other connections with horses racing on Sat, it’s a big effort to even get a horse to start on the day.

Still fizzing Globe or have you peaked too early?

Hope Majestic Man is more relaxed in the running than you are...?

As the syndicate and BOAY members will find out , the Globe is not a quiet fellow in these exciting times. I shall be heard shouting above most I hope., and jumping as high as Iraklis.

One only passes this way once, make the most of it I say.
