Do you get told how to spend your leisure dollar, and if you do ,do you take any notice? Galah, you are correct, if people are stupid enough to waste their money owning and punting on horses with the limited ability that Averos Spitfire has, then they deserve what they get! Fortunately Galah, I am in the financial position to be able to spend when and where I desire, without the need to answer to anyone!

It doesn't always have to be about money Ludwig, are you serious or taking the piss? Owners get a thrill out of paying training bills for many years and then get a thrill out of watching their costly horse run down the track every start? If you would, then clearly it doesnt take much to give you thrills! 1

That's the trainers objective !! and you'd be surprised just how many horses don't even get to the races. When owners buy or breed a racehorse, they commit with friends often, and rely on the Trainer for progress. Can't just 'throw the toys' on poor form, IF the trainer gives it hope. (see next sentence) NZ horsemen are notorious for giving horses 'TIME' to develop or improve. You are used to BIG bets to give you thrills that win. Most folk just happy with little bets , and horses that race , that DON"T WIN that often as are having FUN with it !!! (p.s I grant you SpitfireA is bit short of thrills ...lol.......)

Excellent points. The same is true of sports in general . Most people will realise they are never going to be champions, but that doesn't stop them trying, training, paying fees, buying equipment etc. There's a thrill about being involved, competing, and dreaming...even as in my case the outcome was worse than Spitfires. So good luck to his owners and supporters. If it makes them happy, then all credit to them.

Yes , I'm just watching Wodonga gallops on tele right now, and not many of these horses are Never Ever going to return a profit for the owners. The owners are sure to get a thrill 'having a go' though. Hope you get to have another crack with a horse ownership someday ( if you missed the first time ), you must be BIG chance of lucky second time round !! law of averages. Training and shoeing and feed etc, all 3 times the cost of what I paid in the 80's and 90's racing them , so haven't been tempted to make a comeback ownership as yet, lol.........win bet on Probabeel does me for thrill these days lol. I have raced several horses over the years, and have had wins! Yes it is a thrill winning races, however which part of Averos Spitfire is not going to win a race do the owners not understand?? Race a horse and pay the huge bills, but a suggestion for owners! You will have a lot more fun racing a horse that has ability to win a race, rather than just making up no.s!

I actually nearly bought myself one for christmas. They still have a Claiming race now and then, and was within a cats cock-hair of putting in a Claim for SAM IS PERFECTION for $7000 on Dec 22nd. someone else did instead. Since then he has had 5 starts this year, and has won in 1.53.2. ..... holy moley!!!!!!... in tomorrow too. 7 k for a 1.53 horse !!!!! ready to go ! what a bargain. A cups prospect not that long ago running that fast.
