TAB NZ still persisting with rubbish races!

How does that work?  Doesn't stop other outlets opening who don't have the TAB.

May not be right, but I thought they had to have these races on (content) so the machines could be used. Maybe the other outlets serve food or something that allows them to open.

All outlets that serve alcohol have to serve food of some description.  My understanding is that the majority of those TAB locations with pokies also serve alcohol.  Very very few TAB agencies left that just have the TAB and Pokies.  Do you know how many?

I think the reality is they are just serving up this dross so they can milk as much as they can out of some sad punter.  Afterall who in their right mind would bet on some of that crap?

You'd have to look at the conditions for a cl 4 licence, which governs gaming outside casinos.

A class 4 license applies to Clubs and Pubs.  I'm not sure if there are special conditions for the TAB other than

"If the applicant is TAB NZ, the venue is used mainly for racing betting or sports betting".

But back to the topic you don't have to have those dross races to meet the requirement for race or sports  betting to be available.  Fixed odds, a meeting later in the day etc.

For example the first race tomorrow that is likely to be "abandoned" is at 6:46am.  I doubt any TAB agency with Pokies will be open at that hour!  Later in the week there are races from South Africa at 3:00am!

I agree , but perhaps they have to buy the entire meeting to beam the other races in not sure, some of the SA stuff is very watchable and you get the odd Aus bred in the races, but agree I won't be up at that time of the morning to watch it.

USA have recently legalised online sports betting. Maybe the TAB thinks it can jump in on the action. Or perhaps there are Americans with funds lying in NZ Banks. I suspect the TAB is quite happy to turn a blind eye to American money laundering but being over zealous about New Zealander's activities give the impression they are in line with American regulators.

Speaking of USA can someone tell me of what interest is some Russian politician over in Russia under arrest for 30 days yet Julian Assange imprisoned for the same offence for 30 months in England and nothing said. Nannia Mahuta is rapidly losing credibility.
