Been told it costs about $1k per horse, so obviously only used for good horses in big races? Obviously other stables do it, but why don’t the public know what horses are involved, I think they should. Illegal for athletes, but not for horse racing?
Portfolio
Get on Facebook, have a look at Harness Racing Owners NZ. Plenty of discussion about it, mostly not good. It’s a rich mans sport.

Think that explains it all. that FB post portfolio is talking about is very "entertaining" .

Blossom, this has been gone over and over that many times, and there are the ones who beleive that The AllStars will never stretch the rules. Then there are the majority who know that they dominate harness racing in Australasia and that all other trainers in Australasia are not professional enough and are second rate compared to The AllStars horses, and know that this dominance is very bad for racing. Whichever side you are on is your own business and you are entitled to your opinion. I think most people know about the blood replacement program that AllStars use on their horses and also that they use different vet drugs than other stables, and they may well all be legal currently. Do the AllStars horses get more additives than all other stables in NZ? Of course they do, you only need to ask a well known trainer from down south, and ask him what the first training bill for his top horse was? No real point debating this over and over again as there is never going to be a right or wrong, and it can sometimes get a bit too heated!

Newmarket
To me it’s pretty dodgy. So a stable has horse running in a $20k race that does not have this blood scenario, yet horse races $200k following week, guess what!!! Easy to manipulate dont you think

Can someone outline the HRNZ owners thoughts? Portfolio might have it right....the rich getting richer
Guest CrossCodes
The business directors are listed as Mark Purdon Natalie Rasmussen Garry Andrews Ian Mitchell The shareholders are listed as 25% each to Purdon an Rasmussen, and the remaining 50% to the company Equine Blood Solutions pty limited. So I guess it is fair to say that the Purdon/Rasmussen team are using this product, but since it is legal I see no problem apart from the fact it is expensive and possibly out of the market for smaller trainers. Brodie
Bit weird really! This blood thing is currently legal for race horses but believe is illegal for humans athletes! Caffeine is legal for humans and yet it is ILLEGAL for horses! Go figure!!!
