Gammalite
An interesting story is that for most of this month the 10 horse barn of Jason Grimson and Jack Trainor was moved to the 'Retention Centre" under surveillance of stewards. Trainor (from Dunedin) used to help Dexter and Cran, then worked 5 years at Blake Fitzpatrick at Menangle, now took out a trainers licence late last year. Grimson and Trainor results and 'Improvement in horses' has gone so extreme, the suspicious stewards actually locked down their barn to see what they were doing.??? Can they do that ? is like you're guilty of something so off to the holding cell you go. No charges laid? quite extroadinary.!!! The boys are onto Something good !!!, that's for sure. Tonight SPELLBOUND for Nathn Purdon in a group3 mares race Menangle is up against the THE STUNNING NUN .The 'Nun' left NZ 2 years ago after some handy Akld form for Young, and has nice placings for 2 years in North Vic country. but has 'exploded' in 2 months in the Lock -up, 4 wins including 1.49.7 last beating or flogging McCarthy multiple Group winning 'Bettor Enforce' (who is a chance in the Redcliffe Cup tonight against Colt Thirty One). MIGHTY FLING ART (from southland) HIDDEN COURAGE , and generally the whole Grimson/ Trainor Team Barn is 'flying high' . quite sensational improvement. Well done them I spose???, stewards can't work it out , and the barn has 8 in tonight at Menangle. Poor 'Spellbound' looks to be in for quite a 'fright'.

Best wishes to Unhinged/Spellbound.They will certainly need a top drive to triumph. I was unaware until reading here about Grimson/Trainor Team @ Retention Centre. Earlier this year I found daily items in my news feed from www.peterprofit.com.(these have since stopped, only available by subscription) He was totally on to the remarkable results/improvements in horses being transferred into this stable. Often aged horses with hitherto ordinary career records, suddenly running personal best mile rates by several seconds. Like you mention,Extraordinary!!!

Jones
Well I have just had to watch the replay, as thought race was on at NZ time 9.50pm now. Not sure how I muddled that up ... Had set alarm specially too to watch. Boo hoo, didn't get to see the great win as it happened. Congrats to all connections 😄

Running the race when I wasn't ready with chair-leader pom-poms out. Be interesting to see how far she goes in Oz, if she can get a Group 2 or even an elusive Group 1 over there. Ya just never know. Taking a look at her resume, she was quite the 2 y-o. Winning, 2 Group 3's & then placing 2nd Group 1 at Jewels behind Sweet on Me. Gammalite
The Stewards will be still scratching their heads.? just share another example to finish this story. The ex-pat kiwi Jack TRAINOR had 6 horses in at Menangle last night. Only ONE horse on the night , beat any of those 6 home. Grand old FFAer 'Double Encounter' beating 2 of Jack's back into 2nd and 3rd in a sizzling 1.50.7 mile. Otherwise he had the THREE winners (with a Quinella one race) to continue the amazing stable form. quite brilliant. GRIMSON from the same 'Barn' (pretty much a training partner of Trainor) had placegetters too. chasing home the brilliant Spellbound in 1.50.1. with his 3 horses....very quick. The 'funny bit' I like is, after heaps of placings behind his many Stablemates at the McCarthy/ Craig Cross 'Super best in OZ stable' last year , the horse POCKET OF TERROR has left that barn to join Trainor recently , and the young bloke WON Last night with him , and was knocking off McCarthy horses 'Cup class' ex-new zealanders CASH AND FLOW and STAR GALLARIA!!. crazy times. so the McCarthy super-stable is being knocked off by their outcast 'old' horses now? !! extroadinary.!...lol. P.S In fairness to kiwi Cross/McCarthy stable, they did train Pocket of Terror to 6 wins from 30 starts last year, often chasing home his many stable-mates too. so not too shabby.

That retention barn used for 2 days (pre-post 48 hours for all MIRACLE MILE ) runners compulsory , (because race worth $1mill) and will be used for the Interdominion GF runners at Menangle in the Spring-time too. I think it's a great idea.!!! stops any form of raceday eve/ or raceday dodgey treatments /temptations and keeps the great races as clean as whistle. No one accused of cheating. excellent. Do you really believe that putting horses in a retention barn stops for 48 hours stops the use of performance enhancers? Maybe go look up how they increase the red cells of racehorses with performance enhancing treatment and the time frames around that, and you will realise the 48 hour retention barn seems ineffective and just for appearances. Most horse aids/treatments , (EXAMPLE like Mr Alford, McGrath and others using milkshakes over the years), and many injectibles are given race-day or day before , so to actually be EFFECTIVE> i.e help you win the race. otherwise NO POINT using them .lol...... Strong administrations , that are working Longer-Term, like you want, EXAMPLE steroids, are swabable, as in the system extended periods , and you really run the Gauntlet of Excess substance in the blood/ urine testing. Not recommended. Retention Barn has been great at Not only preventing 'raceday' administration , but prevents Accusations of such as well !!!!brilliant. Your reference to "red cells of racehorses" infers "blood doping". Which particular techniques are you referring to? If you are referring to EPO then it would be impossible to administer without detection.

You refer to alford, mcgrath in this response.I would call their methods as the cheap mans way of using performance enhancers. But thats not who you referred to in the reply i responded to though. I was responding to your comment about spankem and the all stars. The chief assures me that the use of blood doping is easily detectable. Well thats great news if its true, but from what i've read its not true. I'm no expert, but do read the paulick report from the usa which tends to give you the most credible reporting on this subject and quotes experts in the detection of performance enhancers. Now,as i've said in my first reply, have you (or the chief) read the timeframes around treatments given to increase red cell content. And have you read what other treatments go with that and how regular the blood is monitored while red cell numbers are being increased. If you had,you would see that a 48 hour barn retention would NOT stop the administration of performance enhancers that were effective and given prior to the 48 hour period. Fancy calling LAZARUS a donkey..... nearly the best ever. Before Lazarus had his last start ever in Australia in that 2018 Miracle Mile , he had NOT missed a place in Australia in 15 starts which included 6 x Group 1 Wins including Hunter Cup and Perth Interdominion.... superb !! The fastest times he (Lazarus) ran in Australia were the 1.49 in the 2017 Miracle Mile when 3rd??? and Chariots of fire WIN the year before. Perhaps the retention barn 'NOT in Action' with Allstars 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the 2017 Miracle Mile?? He couldn't go that fast ? please forgive him one bad run for Christ sake. nothing to do with treatments.
