Newmarket
Look, I know the girl has been getting the winners, but that drive in the first a shocker. Even more amazing, how did the horse retain 4th place, caused huge interference yet not disqualified? Can somebody explain, Ta

Can somebody explain, Ta I haven't seen the stipes report yet but it looked like the Hope horse was the cause of interference to me. American Outlaw could not be restrained by Hope, when it galloped and went back through the field I expected the worst. How all the horses stayed on their feet is amazing. At least Olivia put the horse into the race, if she has sat back would have only run fourth at best anyway?
the galah
I 'm not sure who caused the interference but thought thornley made the right tactical decision, just her horse did look to knock off and may need a wee freshen up or driver change just to see. Personally i thought hopes drive was a bit poor. Why strangle a horse to the point it gets that annoyed it breaks. Doesn't matter whether it was checked or not, looked a poor drive to me. Why is it he drives pacers so stop start, and trotters at a nice even speed. Its got me beat how different he drives them. Some of the hope pacers really can improve their form when he gets off them.Yet he drives the trotters so well.I didn't have a bet myself,so the result didn't worry me either way. Brodie
Olivia Thornley clearly chopped Ben Hope’s horse before she was clear of it! She will get a suspension you would think or there is no integrity whatsoever, and you might as well disband the RIU!!!!! Yes the Hope horse was pulling bad and I think Ben in hindsight shouldve pressed on. Newmarket is correct, the AllStar horse should be disqualified but the blatantly stupid Harness Rule does not allow it! HRNZ change the rule as it is ridiculous!!!!!! I agree, no way was she clear before she found the rails. Really surprised it held 4th, was there an enquiry?
Nowornever
Race 1 O Thornley (RIVEERED) [Rule 869(3)(b)] - Careless driving, shifting ground causing interference (2 months). Suspended from 16/07/2021 until 15/09/2021 inclusive.

HRNZ need to get off their arses and change the rule but they dont want to have enquiries as it is too hard for them! Easier to have horses causing interference and turning a blind eye to it! Dougie
Decided not to bet but had a very good look at 'Pro Surfer' in the juniors race, he's shown a bit of ability when with the Dunn's and now with the owner/trainer, been battling just in behind and I thought a fast juniors race would suit add to that the best driver, but I stuffed around after seeing $13 and just before the race was $7 so it was a watch job.... from the form I've looked at he's never led in his life so what happens, Morrison to the front and just gets nutted, no change of tactics advised nor questions asked ........ it's no biggie but if they're not going to bother asking the question when it comes to punters like me investing $$$$ and hesitant on how a race will be run all that does is lowers turnover and $$$ into the industry, I suggest you lift your game Steve Renault.

Dougie, also looked Pro Surfer but also didnt back it. Thought John Morrison would try for the front as not much speed inside, however it had been slow out from the gate before. There is daylight between our better Juniors and the other ones unfortunately. Sheree Tomlinson and John Morrison out of their Junior ranks shortly and our ranks are going to be very thin as no one coming thru!

Sarah O'Reilly, 11th on the Drivers' Premiership, Kerryn Tomlinson, Mark Hurrell, Ben Hope... are all coming through mate. I think the South is OK with a number of promising juniors. Sheree Tomlinson and John Morrison will continue to get plenty of drives when they leave junior ranks. The North is a different story.

Yes some of them are pretty good, but there are very very few Junior drivers starting out. The South Island is going to be short of Junior Drivers as well in the coming years as fewer young ones make a career out of harness racing. The Kid Karts is fantastic but how many are actually going to work in stables and get their Junior licenses?

There are currently 40 junior drivers in the South Island. 1

Cockhead, how many new ones are coming thru yearly? Are you being a Dickhead for the sheer hell of it or were you just born that way?
