boobybec
Just read on hrnz an end of an era with David and Catherine Butt handing in their training licence and Davey handing in his driving licence too. Essentially pioneers in beach training, creating an amazing facility at Woodend. Good on them, they have bloody hard for all the success they have had. Davey made special mention of Dartaway, what a good horse he was. Back in the days you could keep good horses and place them in NZ without running into cup class horses. Hopefully they do something on the box seat for them, amazing how Davey never seemed to get the same accolades as his successful cousins in Paul Nairn and Anthony and Tim Butt however just as good. His record says that https://harness.hrnz.co.nz/gws/ws/r/infohorsews/wsd06x?Arg=hrnzg-Ptype&Arg=RaceVideo&Arg=hrnzg-RacehdrID&Arg=183564&Arg=hrnzg-rSite&Arg=TRUE 2

At the end of the day, training horses is a very hard way of making money, as it is a labour of love really! All the best to both of them in the future, well deserved semi retirement.

Mrs Catherine Butt is the brains behind the organisation. Beach training facilities was her brain child; they must collect plenty in rent weekly?
Newmarket
Wonder why they are giving up? David did well training, he did get into a bit of trouble early on with his crops🤭

If David And Catherine had been serious over the last decade then they wouldve been in the top 5 trainers in the country for wins without doubt!
