Now works for the Wellington City Council. Heard being interviewed on radio this morning. Coming in for some flak over spending $139000 on a billboard saying Wellington without the i. The i was deliberately left out. Thought to myself, how do these failed suits slime their way into these positions of power. He joins Glenda Hughs another failure from the racing industry. Wellington seems to be a magnet for these parasites. Welcome to John Allen Wellington ratepayers, $139000 for a miss spelt billboard.

Yeah Aquaman he works for a WCC funded outfit Tourism Wellington (or something like that) that has gone through many name changes and CEOs over the past decade.  These guys, as is the case with the new CEO of the TAB and John Allen, get these jobs because of rumoured success in previous jobs and are smart enough to move on before the shit hits the fan because their success in those jobs turns out to be nothing than a mirage.  It carries on because recruitment firms find them to be attractive to future firms and both the recruitment firms and the employers don't dig too deep and rely on a self created perception.  The recruitment firms are paid if they produce a candidate that's get appointed and of course the employers (and their boards) are full of these superficial characters.

But don't worry - it will only last forever!

When he got the job the top dog there talked him up for his success in the racing industry along with the PO and MBIE , his salary was in the 350k range , a bit of a come down for him .

Too true - lazy frigging recruitment firms do not thoroughly check the claims in trumped up CV's these failures produce when applying for jobs and the same useless pricks circulate around the cesspool of publicly funded roles
