Gammalite
As the July Month of fantastic Queensland Harness racing kicks off this Saturday , the first lead in Open Class feature Has near a field that Addington or Alexandra Park would of been pleased to see in NZ. The 'Wondai's Mate' Open Sprint has a great field set to do battle in 1.51 mile I will guess. (FYI Wondai's Mate was a great local horse in the 80's that won twice at an Auckland Interdominion , but lost his driver in the Grand Final won styilishly by Gammalite.) 2022 JLH FINANCE WONDAIS MATE OPEN (LISTED) 1660M $25,970 No NR. The B is a Band local rating They have Band 5 down to Band 1 , based on number of wins in 'Band' races. Just another way to assemble fields. usually a Metro or City race would be a 'Band' race B5 Band 5 horses have won one Band race. B4 Band 4 horses have won 2, B3 have won 3 , B2 have won 4 races with a Band penalty , and All the field above in the Wondai's Mate open have won 5 or more of those, so are all B1 horses. except kiwi FIRE FOX who hasn't raced against this FFA company as yet (only a B3 93 rater) He's in for shock !!!!! They'll be going like scorched Cats !!!! Edited June 28, 2022 by Gammalite

To be fair though Gamma, the Ozzies have never been that good at school!
Davis
Thanks Gamma, mate. The Brisbane carnival is taking off and being targeted by top stables. Sad, no NZ stables this year, but Amazing Dream conquered them and took home most of the stakes last year so give the locals a turn this year! It would be worth visiting Brisbane during the carnival, great harness and sun. Next year, I'll be there mate!

Yes last year she plucked 2 of the 3 Group 1's on offer for her in Brissy. 1st in the Rising Sun (a new race) for Mark driving, 1st In the Blacks A Fake with 'Stare Blair' driving , and inbetween those was a very narrow head v 1/2head 3rd in the Golden Girl for Ant's driving. (Spellbound was 2nd in that one) kiwi American Dealer (Ant's) won the QLD Derby brilliantly , with your mate Captain Crusader 2nd, KRUG 3rd. Anthony Butt winning the Qld trotters Cup too with Crusaders teammate Tough Monarch for Alchin. loved it..... Can only hope we see some more great racing like that again !!!!!!!!, even though Copy That and King of Swing aren't here this time round.
Gammalite
Have been informed that what horses have done in the past doesn't really matter. It's only what is happening in the present/future that really matters.Thought for a moment, it was very exciting to see all the kiwi horses there and the Nz audience would be excited to see them take on the Aussies and win some stakes here. so am certainly a little (a lot) deflated , as have come to realise after conversation tonight, whatever the 8 NZ horses in this Wondai's Mate open race tonight did in their New Zealand careers matters 'nought' to anyone as now out of sight and out of mind to the public, as not many historians or Interdominionist's around anymore. a dying breed 😩. well back to the footy then I guess . result was 5-4-10 for the one interested.... You sound a bit down mate. It was a good race. Firefox what gate speed, you can see why he dominates at Menangle. Spirit of St Louis, Trevor Casey has another cracker horse, he got the run but still had to work to win. Majestic Cruiser went good, held up in straight. He'll keep. Ex-Kiwis LLCoolJ, Star Galleria and AJ Whitecocks poor.

It's a great meeting with excellent fields that put Addington to shame. Majestic Cruiser can win, extra trip will help him. The Rising Sun what a field? Don't know who will win that but you know who I'll be backing. I'll be disappointed if Captain Crusader performs below par but I'm confident he will go a good race. He loves Queensland. I think his odds will be better this week too. I am definitely coming over for the 2023 carnival mate.

Good quinella horse ? lol Yes, she was impressive. Good draw helps Gamma on that track. Geez it was a rough go in behind her mate. Horses hanging, breaking, pushing out, being shoved wide. They all seemed to be attacking each other while leaving the leader alone in front. My old mate Captain Crusader never got into race, hard from that draw. Hope you got plenty mate

(need Amazing Dream back ? after those 2 big prices last year lol ) Hey a good draw does help , but TRIPLE EIGHT still won the FFA open from the outside barrier gate last Saturday against some pretty good ones too. so it is possible .... but unlikely lol.... Fields are out for Week 3 !! and CAPTAIN CRUSADER in much easier race (the 4 yearold Championship R5) this time round, and he 'Can Win' too, in this company. Bit hard last week.
