Harness Racing New Zealand has today confirmed that there won't be any changes to two of its biggest races this year.

"It's business as usual as far as we are concerned," says HRNZ Chief Executive Gary Woodham, "the New Zealand Cup and the Dominion Trot will take place at Addington during Cup week and they will be held under the same conditions as they have in recent years."

And Skid's clever drive ?

Hands Down started from the Unruly, so was back with Delightful Lady anyway , behind the other runners. And 40 m behind her not long after the start according to the Journo's after being slow away. Lord Module dogging it completely it seems too sadly.....

Seems Hands Down with Peter Jones steering gave the 'Lady' a big head start and probably deserved his win , rounding up the Field and all.

The decision announced today was pretty much what most expected. On one side was the vocal big owners and trainers and the same know all media types,on the other side were the majority of owners and trainers and the punters..

Not disputing what you say Gamma, but he could have been 55m behind her if she was off the front

Rubbish

How on earth would you know that the majority of pinters backed the change?

Seems a simple one to answer.

Punters prefer betting in races where there is no dominant, stand out favorite. You may be happy betting in a race with a $1.30 standout winner, but every punter i know is turned off by them.

Also larger field sizes mean larger turnovers.I don'tknow where you have been, but hrnz have always said the aforementioned are major factors in turnover.

I don't know who you are,but i hope your not someone running things as you don't seem to have an understanding of even the basics.

So based on your profound knowledge a 16 horse maiden at Riverton will turn over more than the NZ Cupo with 10 starters and a $1.40 favourite?

You sound like an Australian

If so, that explains a lot

What does it explain .? Is only 3 hours away to Oz . and 600,000 kiwis live here. Very similar really. takes me longer to get to home town Tassie lol. another 'off-shore' island full of people that would prefer to be on the mainland 😉.

Nice kiwi horse in today I've been waiting for to resume racing, since last Spring.

If you're feeling like backing an old kiwi horse, he is showing 12-1 today which seems generous enough.

ALTA SENSATION in Race 7 today Albion. Won a trial by 70m the other day and his 4 races in Oz  last Spring at Albion were very fairly good .
