Written Questions for Winston and Messara to Answer.

I don't see how we can pose questions about a report we haven't seen. Will that be released prior to the Q&A session so that informed questions can be presented to Winnie and Messara (if in fact the latter is also going to be there)? If not, the whole thing seems a bit pointless.

You do raise a good point though about the logistics

The report is released at the meeting, followed by a Q+A, so it does not give much of a chance for people to read the report and digest, if in fact they are even going to provide a report copy to all attendees

Serendipitously, I'll be there and could go. Probably won't bother though if I don't have the report to digest a couple of days before at least. Be a complete waste of time.

Therein lies the problem

Releasing the report a few days prior to the meeting, takes away Peter's thunder, so that won't happen.

Really need a double session meeting, presentation of the report, summary style, release copies, dinner etc, then Q+A session

It's clearly ridiculous to expect sensible questions to come immediately after Winnie's speech, when no-one will have had time to digest the substance and implications of a wide-ranging report. SURELY THEY KNOW THIS...it's great way of being 'transparent' while limiting criticism. Most of the tough questions would easily be answered by saying: "Read the report; it's in the report. Next question."

So... why not suggest a live Q&A session to be televised on Trackside sometime (soon), ie in the next 2-4 weeks, with Peters and Messara together, when we have all had time to digest the report?

You're right newy...

Theyre not...this is all about the superior THOROUGHBRED code and how they've been thoroughly screwed by the other two codes over the years...

Messiah will right the wrongs and justly consign the other two codes where they belong

...in the gutter

spoken with all the wisdom, common sense, intellect, fair-mindedness and sheer kindness this Forum has come to expect of Thomass. At least he didn't disappoint.

I only speak da truth wheeze..

Imagine if HK had all these other offerings available?

Harness and Hounds are for loser bogan types with nothing better to do

Its a waste of resources in fact...when they could be mucking out boxes for the Thoroughbreds...

..and committing totally to one code...we'll accept anyone...even those types...

...better than being locked up where they belong

Bollocks.  Why not be the World's best at all three?  We used to be for at least one of the three codes.

Wash your mouth out. Little old nz needs all 3 codes to succeed.

Another question

Why were Punters isolated with Free TV removed  -  and given the Client base is reducing dramatically and we cannot get people on course - then surely Free TV should be reintroduced tomorrow - and if not why not

Dear Minister....

Looking at the NZTR Racing Monthly for August 2018, I read on page 4 ( list of NZTR employees) that :

Under the Racing Integrity Unit section there are:

1 Operations Manager; 1 General Manager ( Stewards ) Manager ( Integrity Assurance), 4 Senior or Chief Stipendiary Sterwards, 4 Investigators, 11 Stipendiary Stewards.

And Yet...the 'buck' seems to bypass all the above? Why are decisions relative to illegal substances so hard to make, especially when they involve horses belonging to 'high profie' owners and/or trainers? And why when the so called 'offender' is a battling owner/trainer or low level jockey or trainer or owner, prosecutions are undertaken quickly and quite damaging penalties imposed..?

It appears that there is also a sub-committee for integrity issues on the NZTR Board list...so what part do these people have in determining action by the Integrity Unit, which supposedly falls under their umbrella..?

Woukd you not think, Minister, that given that integrity matters are so important in racing, that the Integrity Unit should be answerable to someone ? ...cast your eyes across the ditch, the Australian system does not blink if the alleged offenders are high profile trainers/jockeys/owners...

Looking forward to hearing your reply, thankyou.

And yes, this forum on Thursday evening is most definitely an appropriate place to raise these issues...if there is no confidence in the  integrity' of racing then don't bother spending millions on tracks, they won't help raise the betting figures.

Yet again a gutless approach being taken by those in charge!

Par for the course for this lot!

ps. any truth that a key feature will be the introduction of a new cooperate logo, which I believe is a version of this classic!!! ??????

John Messara will not be an attendance.

The report was written for Winston Peters. It's up to the Minister on interpretation and implementation.

Thanks Peter.  I imagine Mr Messara is a very busy chap at this time of year.  Unfortunately we will need someone like him to implement the changes NOT Winston.
