Cheers Hesi,

I didn,t even realise you were posting these on here .

I,m able to view when time permits...

Yep , I voted Winston, and are glad he has got the ball rolling ...BUT... Stakes must increase, paid to last.

Poor owners, @ the coal face paying the weekly bills to support the rest of the industry...

tired early rising trainers.    to the benefit of Float Companies, Farriers, Vets and Breeders.

The costs of running a slow horse to prop up the industry have gone...

To be quite honest I,m surprised at the average sized field

Waay down on previous years...but still repairable...

Improve on-course repeat patronage...(NOT BY CHARGING ADMISSION / ARRANGE AN EVENT / BETWEEN RACE ENTERTAINMENT AND MARKET IT PROPERLY !

I,m not a big advocate of losing the small, annual festival Racetracks... BUT to soften the blow ...those Clubs / Members / Public

could be offered free buses to their closer, larger Group 1 type Carnivals with free drink/s and tickets provided.

Punters comps would ensure on-course betting figures remain high.

Trackside do a good job I reckon ! ...bugger the aussies ! and I would hate to have to rue the day we handed over control.

After watching this, esp the interview with Pike ( President-trainers assn; committee member Cambridge jc,etc, etc) you have to wonder why people bother being on committees. Basically he said what he's been saying-and not doing-for years. You get what you deserve and boy is the racing industry getting that in spades now...tracks stuffed, prizemoney pitiful and stagnant, sales dropping, export markers losing ground, silly old minister who can't even be bothered updating industry since the promised land of the messiah report months ago....not one of the suggested avenues to improve the industry has been acted upon...the so-called saviour for the galloping industry ( 'synthetic' tracks) still pie in the sky..jeeze does peters think they'll just pop up overnight? ever heard of engineering reports, resource consents, impact reports,....these things all take time, could have been already underway but what do we get? feck all.

wrt allweather tracks - you are so right,  whatever is afoot,  whether something or nothing,  we should be keep informed.

So far we have been told NOTHING from either NZTR or any potentially involved clubs.

The infrastructure part of the report hinges totally on the money generated from the sale of the 20 courses.

I presume there has been a lot of discussion between the DIA(Peters) and the clubs involved, all of it confidential, so probably a lot cannot be reported.

The thing that could be reported, is the progress of RITA(Racing Industry Transition Authority?), which would handle a lot of the other stuff, such as outsourcing the TAB, establishing Racing NZ and Wagering NZ, but nothing heard here???

Yes, quite.

Re. the infrastructure part,  I realise that hinges upon funds generated from the theft of assets....but the allweather  tracks were supposed to have been funded through the RDF..in part anyway...beats me how Riccarton in a major city qualifies for that,  but....

From Peter's speech, but you have to wonder just how much progress has been made on it, as there has been no announcement on who will head it up, and who it will comprise

RITA

As this review identifies, a complex task and highly technical challenge is in front of us which requires careful management.

For this reason I have asked officials to also consider a transition agency. This is not an uncommon tool in a sector or industry about to undergo change. A transitional agency would smooth the operational process particularly if there are changes in racing governance structure. I envisage it playing an important role in changes signalled either today or by decisions to be made by Cabinet.

It would also play an instrumental role in racecourse consolidation. This is a process which requires good communication, good co-ordination, and proper consultation with our racing community.

Many of you have dedicated your lives to racing, being it the thoroughbreds, the trots, or the dogs and your voice deserves to be heard.
