Brodie
DadnDave Race 3 at Addington tonight opened up at $4.50 to win Fixed! Not too sure how the Bookies can possibly open it so short when it is still a maiden after many starts against maidens and is racing race winners tonight for the first time? Tim Trathen is driving it again tonight and seriously it has to be major unders at that doesn’t it over 2600m? It has gone ok the last couple of races but against maidens and hasn’t looked like winning against them! Place was around the $1.60 as well which is really major unders as well and you couldn’t take it on any given Sunday. One day it will come back to haunt me but seriously Bookies, why so short????? Who sets these ridiculously short odds nowadays and who would bother as it has not got any favours going tonight! There are a couple of very good bets tonight that we’re overs though! Hope everyone has a good night on the punt to make up for such a shambles of a week for harness racing!

Bookies were giving you overs on opening.

You said It opened up way too short yet the tote closing price was lower than the opening price so it they opened it over the odds to what the public thought the price was. What did you think should have been the opening price?

What did you think should have been the opening price? You missed the point Nowornever! I don’t give a rats about the tote odds and if punters want to bet on the tote horses that Don’t have much chance then that is their doing. The point I was making is that DadnDave was pushing it uphill with Tim on board in that race, being a maiden racing against race winners, which Brodie was proven correct! He should’ve been double figures at least to win that race, $4.50 Fixed to win was ludicrous. Even with Ricky May on it should’ve been $10 at least. You would’ve been a very poor punter to have backed it at that as it had been far longer in maiden races without looking like winning! If the Bookies want punters to invest then they need to be offering odds that will attract money, rather than put them off.

When the bookies all around the world set the odds ideally they will be trying to get the opening fixed odds as close to the closing tote odds as possible. The big descrepancies or differences in opening fixed odds to closing tote odds are normally where the bookmakers lose money. In this case (Dadndave) the bookies were almost exactly right. If Dadndave closed at $10 on the tote then you would be right but in this case you are not on the money. You would be better pointing out the big descrepancies between prices after the race to make your point where they got it wrong. At this stage the TAB bookies will just be laughing at you. Nowornever
I agree with the fact that DadnDave was surprisingly short but don't think you will get Brodie to admit the bookies got the price right. It goes against his I am always right mentality.

Anyone with half a brain would not have put a brass razoo on DadnDave at $4.50 in that field, and that is the point that I was making!! ! I don’t care if you think Bookies had the price the same as the tote as that is totally irrelevant to the point that I was making. If they had it so right Nowornever, how much money did they take on the horse to win at $4.50????? I would suggest bugger all of any because you would have been a nutter to have backed it to win in that field, end of storey!
