Average of 61k not that flash by the time you take out all the costs, there is buggerall profit if any if you are paying full service fee to Bettors Delight! Owners are getting the stitch!,
Taupiri Wonder
Valid points you make Brodie. It remains to be seen what after sale deals are done! Naturally the Head Cheerleader Guerin is trumpeting what a great 1st Day Sale it was with $61k Average. Well,if half of those passed in had no reserve, then how much would this average have crumbled!!! Worth noting that Aussie Buyers did not seem too active. All those Captaintreacherous Yearlings (with exception of Agent Purchase unknown)seem set to at least begin their racing careers with NZ Trainers. This in total contrast to Karaka Thoroughbred Yearling Sales. Edited February 19, 2023 by Taupiri Wonder

With the extended lockdowns in Auckland due to the bad flu, the reduction of house prices and now the horrific floods in Auckland and further south, people aint going to be wanting to gamble their hard earned $ on a losing yearling! Some of the trainers that have bought horses this year could be left holding the can! Edited February 19, 2023 by Brodie

It was a commercial vehicle and the annual insurance premium doubled thereafter. It went from $40 p.w. to $80 p.w when the policy was renewed a couple of months after the event. Then add to that the no claims bonus and hiring another vehicle while it was away for repair it cost me at least $4000 that year. Some did ok if they had agreed value insurance for their car and they were over insured, but insurance companies will need to recoup their loses with increased future premiums. Yes apart from the hikes in insurance premiums for us all, I believe there are going to be many properties that insurance companies will not insure! Even before the floods, the IAG group of companies have become so much harder to deal with, it is a nightmare at times. They have tightened up massively and dealing with people from a Call Centre in the flippen Phillipines is a pain in the xxxx! They will be now reluctant to insure anything in flood plains so difficult to buy and sell in these areas, you would think! No insurance and therefore no Bank finance.
