Yep, they should keep their distance and maintain Integrity at all times.  I guess when Scotty Wallis a stipe at Christchurch moved in on a licensed persons girlfriend and then became engaged to her was an example of how much in tatters this R.I.U. is..and to top it off Scotty now dishes out instructions to the ex boyfreind of his wifes to be... The R.I.U. must be at least investigated and big changes of Integrity assured. The fact you have a General Manager who has less qualifications than at least his Investigators have yet has complete charge of authority over them is  so suspect it aint at all funny.

I disagree.  Our country is too small to maintain more than 2 degrees of separation.

The real question is can individual RIU staff maintain integrity, professionalism and consistency.

Our judiciary do it and there are checks and balances to ensure consistency.  That's why I'd never recommend doing away with the JCA.

What. So you think it’s okay for an RIU stipe to be frequently at a trainers for dinner.

Would have thought that any close friendship with a trainer would definitely be an absolute no no.

Leaves the door open for all sorts of speculation ,  exactly what happening in this case.

Pritty damn certain RIU bosses wouldn’t want or not happy .

They must always keep distance between themselves and participants.

I don't see anything wrong as long as the raceday rules are applied consistently.

I'm not at all questioning the result.

I am questioning the road to get to that result.

If a precedent had already been set, then it's up to the trainer to bring that evidence before the JCA.

I'll say it again, it's not up the to RIU to decide whether they think a fine in the minor infringement table is too steep or not. That is a guideline given to the RIU.

The table is written in to the rules for a reason and that reason to keep those minor issues out of the JCA's hands & further burdening the system. If the trainer was not satisfied with what is in the table, then it's his & his alone option to challenge it.

Lets look at this in similar terms, but outside of racing.

Say "Bill" parked his car in town & his parking meter time had expired.

The ticket writer (police) came along & knew full well that it was a minor infringement & the fine was to be $20.00. But instead of issuing the prescribed $20 fine (as the minor infringement table specified), the meter reader referred the violation to the court system because while Bill's time did expire on the parking meter, it had only expired 5 minutes before the meter reader noticed it. The meter reader felt that a $20 fine was far to excessive for the mere 5 minutes.

What this hypothetical story hasn't yet said is that the meter reader is Bill's wife.

So the meter reader shows up in the court room the next day, while Bill stays home to look after the kids. The Judge is completely ok with the fact that Bill's not present at the hearing. The judge decides to cut the fine in half because the meter reader said that the time was not that far overdue & a parking fine had been halved before under similar circumstances.

I wonder what the meter readers boss would think about paying her (probably overtime) for attending the court hearing...

Nice aye?

Oh, They are consistant alright, no probs there Noodlum..From the beginning, this funded draining set up Unit has been Tops at that!! Cameron George, got off lightly with his disgraceful antics. He is on record of what he was going to achieve, and that he didn't!!, and 'Integrity' was lacking bigtime. Then You had the man that took over from him and other R.I.U. lads that helped him...Once again the lack of pure Integrity was abused..  Shocking Event!!....The decent followers that abide by the rules  know only too well this Unit needs Investigating and Re Forming with the highest form of Decency, Integrity and Passion. The One accused of being too close with a top trainer and having tea with him  (G.String Gav )  was  very lucky to get away with an internal inquiry into  a fetish of young girls knickers.. So much could be revealed  and another is  why,  Craig Rendle the main stay behind the Cole/Ahern kennels with his Blatent abuse of a "Conflict Of Interest" while heading the Board is not being questioned BIGTIME.!!    Is this why Cole has not been Dealt with under the Rules (with ample evidence provided) of a serious breech by the N.Z.G.R.A. and the R.I.U.? Something stinks and it is about time some arses were wiped..This is a Greyhound issue but with the shit going down with the trots and I believe the Gallops will eventually be involved now is the time  in conjunction with the Messara report to have a big Cleanup ..From Winston and the Big Lady Glenda Down...
